I need to know what size the front axle nut is on a 2001 dodge dakota 4x4 . i have been having alot of noise in the front end and i think that it might be the bearings

Here's a video on the same model/make with something that started as a noise. Turns out there are two different axles with the difference being the locking ring on the inboard end. Dodge Dakota Front Axle Noise
175 ft pounds for the axl nut it gona take alot to get it of.the nut size is 1 -11/16. air tools make it easy the hub to nuckle nuts are 14mm 12 point.
the ansew i found is replacing the seal around the joint and from both end removing it and cleaning it out i had rocks in mine from going threw water and mud ita a all day deal but a twenty doller fix axle shaft oil seal is all i had to replace
If it is 4X4 you will need to remove your hub assembly. Then If, 2 wheel drive you will need to remove your brake assembly. The dust cover to get access to axle nut. Remove the cotter pin, then the nut. Be careful of the ABS connection on the back of your hub. Replace bearings, races and the seal.
