Why does my 1964 ford fairlane 500 3 speed manual trans. Run rough when not under load.

Hey Fred, I AM SOOOOO JEALOUS!!! My teenage years Saturday nights were spent in a 64 Fairlane...(4 speed - 390 - WOW!!)..
Any way.. your carb needs some TLC, a valve clearance setting-get a qualified pro to do this!!), new spark plugs (wires maybe) .. a new air filter.... mainly the carb needs a QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL to clean and set it once you have put in the plugs/air filter.. This will eliminate possible rough idle issues and give the mechanic peace of mind when he is adjusting the carb.
Good luck...

I have a 2005 artic cat 650 having trouble starting and when started it backfires and it cuts out realy bad wen run n

how long has it been since you cleaned the air filter? It's under your seat. from my experience a bike will start back firing and running funny if the air filter is clogged or wet. you could try removing it and running the quad, if it runs better then you need a new air filter. or you can clean it with gasoline in a bucket, let it dry good before you reinstall it.

also check your spark plug. if you run it while it isnt working properly, you can foul up the spark plug. it might be covered in soot, you can clean it with a wire brush.

finally, it may be bad gas. have you put fresh fuel in it recently? has it been submerged in water? did the gas jug you use have dirt in it? if there is dirt in your tank, it can clog the fuel intake at the bottom of the tank. you can try cycling the petcock to reserve and see if it runs any better.

Spec vin ecu specs

If it turns, then the battery is OK. Either spark plugs are not firing in proper order (wrong firing order), no power to spark plugs, or no fuel because of fuel restrictions (dirty fuel filter). Inspect the air filter to ascertain its not clogged air. If you smell gas, then you saturated the spark plugs, which is why it refuses to run.
Let it sit for half hour to let spark plugs dry. Inspect to ascertain its not dirty spark plugs, which will also prevent engine from running. After ascertaining its proper firing order, spark plugs are clean, and there's power to distributor cap, ascertain there's fuel in fuel lines by squirting half second (short squirt) of starting fluid into air filter. Close the air filter housing to trap flammable starting fluid gas. Turn engine without giving throttle. Let starting fluid be ignited by spark plugs. If it won't start, then spark plugs are not firing to ignite starting fluid gas. If it starts briefly, but won't run when you give throttle, but catches when a 2nd person squirts more starting fluid into air filter just before engine stalls, then its a fuel restriction issue or no fuel in fuel lines.

I bought an 89 dodge spirit, and it wont keep the battery charged has had multiple new batteries put into it and it also stalls every time its put into gear what could be the problem

Most probably, the AIC stepper motor is bad, one way to kno, is when the engine slows at idle when you swithc on the air conditioner, and the Idle automatioc control does not correct the RPM dropping from the increased load. An engien that does not maintain correct and stable idle cannot maintain the battery charged, but it could have multiple issues.

How to give a tune up for a 1990 toyota 4runner?

with many new modern fuel injected vehicles its hard to give them a tune up without plugging them into a computer or getting an aftermarket computer chip and programmer.

however, if your toyota is running a little rough and getting bad gas mileage i would reccomend a new set of spark plugs and wires. and maybe a new fuel filter, i would do the spark plugs first, if the results are not satisfactory then change the spark plug wires, and if the results are still not up to your standards comparing the way it used to run to how it runs now then change the fuel filter. doing all these things will make the vehicle run clean and efficient like it should. and if it doesnt than im sure you have a vacum or oxygen sensor problem.

just wanna hop up the performance a little bit and get better fuel mileage?
then i would suggest and personally recommend a complete K&N cold air intake kit.

Why does my 88 dakota run rough and cuts out when i hit the gas even when i replaced the fuel pump and filter?

This could be an ignition problem. You might want to change the spark plugs and plug wires. And maybe a new air filter. And then see how it runs.

I am having hesitation when start of acceleration. Already changed plugs, fuel filter

I had the same problem. New plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, MASS airflow sensor cleaned and still it would hesitate. It seemed to get worse when warm. Sunday I fixed the problem. Take the distributor cap and rotor off. Under the rotor there is a metal plate held on by two screws. Take the plate off, this will expose the optical Cam sensor. I took a can of MASS airflow cleaner (Plastic safe)(can buy at advanced auto parts) and sprayed heavily. Once it was dry I put it all back together and it runs like new.

01 ford ranger 4x4 4.0V6-- rough idle like it wants to cut off. loses power or studders under acceleration. struggles to get up to 55 or 60

I agree. Try replacing the spark plugs, install new spark plug wires, change the air filter, change the fuel filter, and test the battery and alternator. Run a bottle of fuel system cleaner and water remover through it. To replace the spark plugs you'll most likely have to go through the wheel wells cause of their hard accessibility from the top. The fuel filter is located on the inside of the frame on the driver's side. Hope this helps. God bless
