The fluid may be low enough to cause the slippage after coming to a quick stop and then taking off again . Have it checked

sound like torque converter or tranny oil pump problems. have tranny pressure tested.

the instrument cluster needs repair, the steppers on the motor need upgrade nothing else or buy a new instrument cluster

most likely your transmittion happened to me but in reverse my mechanic told me it was due to a transmittion flud hose that was too small which if you had your escape dealer serviced they replaced however it was not a recall the smaller hose in cold weather doesnt allow enough trans fluid to circulate which heats up the trans causing the clutch in trans to warp and disentegrate. when mine went it startd slowly engine would rev but car hardly moved then it would no longer move at all had t rebuild trans cost me 3200.00 im taking action against ford as to why a recall was not put into placed a few people i know who have escapes have had to rebuild trans for same issues hope it helps!

First check and confirm that transmission fluid is not leaking or got low.If its low then make it full.Also see if the filter is clogged or worn our or very old.If it is then replace the filter.
The filter is inside; you have to pull it out and take it apart.
There are also many other facing the same problem,In some cases the transmission needs to be reprogrammed as the computer to transmission is not getting detected.In some cases the transmission needs to be rebuilt .
Get the transmission assembly scanned and retrieve the codes and replace the part as per the codes.
