What you need to do is check the oil pressure with a oil pressure tester. You need to remove the oil sending unit and install the tester and let the motor run and warm up.Check the reading on the tester with the engine warm.It should be above 6-8 psi at idle.If it is around 10-15 then you have a bad sending unit and need to replace it.If it is below 6-8 then you have worn out crack shaft bearings, and rod bearings and will need to replace them to get your oil pressure back up to normal. You can also replace the oil pump as long as you are doing the bearings and have the oil pan off.Hope this helps.Good luck.

3.1 liter chevy low oil pressure problems

First I would have hooked up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to see if the gauge was bad. Manually turning the pump does not give you how much pressure it can put out. It may have a lot of wear on it. Seeing that the lifters were noisy, you could have a restriction in the oil filter, oil lines or low oil level.

Low oil pressure indicator at low rpms (idle) '97 olds V8

Low pressure when at idle, after the engine has warmed up and the oil has thinned, indicates that the oil pump is worn and needs to be replaced.

I changes oil in my 1997 aurora and i put 5w 30 back in. after it warmed up the low pressure light comes on at idle. What might be the problem

with it being a 97, the oil pump could be worn if high milage. thus causing less pressure. try 10w30, it wont hurt a thing.

You need to have the oil pressure checked with a manual oil pressure gauge you may have a bad sending unit. If the you oil pressure is the same with the manual gauge then you have a oil pressure problem.

It sounds like oil pressure switch is bad. You said you changed? To clarify, your oil pressure switch is also a safety item that shuts down ignition when oil pressure drops. Try an oil pressure gauge (hand held) to relieve your nerves about engine seizure. Make sure you're not getting to much fuel in engine also, that will dilute oil to a thin viscosity and show low oil press.

If your oil pressure gets to low it can turn off the fuel pump. This may also have saved your engine. The ECM turns on the fuel thru the fuel pump relay for about 5 seconds. When engine is running oil pressure sender supplies the voltage to the pump. When engine shuts off check oil pressure and voltage to fuel pump.

Oil pressure on a 2004 5.3 liter silverado at idle is around 20

The pressure to be most concerned with is the reading in gear at idle with engine warmed up...Low end really should not be below 20. If pressure wanders, change the sending unit and check actual pressure with a mechanical gauge if necessary. The age and quality of your oil, as well as temperature all play a part in pressure, as well as internal wear from time & miles of use. If pressure changes with rpm, that is normal. 40psi is good while driving.
need more info just ask.

1992 gmc chevy 350 wont idle when warm

This could be a number of things but i think that your problem sounds like a vacuum leak or an EGR problem. Try listening for leaks and try un-plugging the EGR solenoid valve one time.

1993 chevy k1500 4x4

Have you by any chance, monitored fuel pressure from start-up to warm-up point where it will not rev? Would not be uncommon for fuel pump to start acting up, about the same time engine gets warmed up.
