possable but more likly a torque converter locking up

The location of the coolant temperature sensor is left side of alternator.

5.2L and 5.9L Engine

1. The CKP sensor is bolted to the top of the cylinder block near the rear of the right cylinder head. Disengage the sensor wiring connector and remove the two sensor mounting bolts.
2. Carefully pull the sensor out of the cylinder block.
3. Installation is the reverse of removal.

ignition control module!!

Yes, cause that sensor operates the electric cooling fans by the radiator, if those fans or fan don't come on, the radiator can't cool down as quick and causes the engine to run hotter.

Coolant sensor wiring would be the next place to look. Make sure connector is good, and look for broken wires.

I have the same problem with my 97 Jeep. I found a fix on www.jeepforum.com posted by phild328, goodluck

My 97 cherokee catalytic converter was stolen, oxygen sensor wires cut. the replacement is black, grey and white. the jeep is different color. i need help knowing which wires get connected to which.
