check that the timing belt is not broken
It would have been the first thing a good mechanic would have done
the second thing would have been to run the fault codes to get the fix right.
you have torn an alternator, an air conditioning or power steering belt if equipped. check that the air conditioning works and gets cold if it used to and the power steering is not heavy if the car had it. if you broke an alternator belt your dash would be a christmas tree. if it had aircon and it doesnt work you need to look for your air con belt on the passenger side of the motor. if its not any of them something else has failed not applicable to any of them and it needs to be looked at asap.
Best case senario is that you have a loose accessory belt. Worst case would be noise is comming from the timing belt tensioner or idler pully. If that part fails it could destroy your engine. Take your car to a mechanic ASAP and have it diagnosed properly. If it is just an accessory belt it won't be expensive , If it is a problem with the timing (cam) belt , it will cost some $$ but could save you from having to pay for a NEW ENGINE.
I have Hyundai Accent gvs(2004. It has covered 70000km. It's a nice car but I am not happy with the average. I am getting average of 8-9 kmpl. So I am planning about CNG kit in my car.
Can you please tell me that what should I do. CNG kit is a good option or not ?
Will it be good for engine ? Would I face some problems after CNG installation ?
Your belt broke, either something is wrong with a pulley and caused the belt to brake or the belt was just old and broke on its own. Either way needs a belt put back on then see if anything else is wrong
trust the guy who said the other guy was full of it, I doubt it is the timing belt at 72,000 miles, more likely the idle speed control motor needs to be cleaned or a you have a defective MAP or MAF sensor...
