it could have been a fluke bad belt but the pulleys should be checked for alignment and looseness.bearings go bad and can sometimes cause a wobbly pulley that can throw a belt.the belt tensioner may need replacing as these can create problems if the belt is not held tight enough.
The PCM has 3 connectors plugged into it. Try wiggling each connector
and listen for a clicking sound, starting with the connector
furthest from the front of the Durango, and the middle connector with a
white top.
If this doesn't help, replace your PCM. The PCM (power control module) can get
hot, causing a short or broken circuit inside the module. Replacing the module
will fix the problem. If your truck dies randomly when it's hot
outside, but will start back up after it cools down, this is probably the
problem.
it sounds like your haeter core has sprung a leak. you can by-pass it by removing your heater hoses and conecting them together with a splice pipe till you can replace the heater core, but you will need to do so the by pass or heater core replacement soon or your car will start to overheat.
You might go to a repair shop that can check to see if exhaust gasses are present in the cooling system. Unfortunately, it is possible you have a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head. I hope I am wrong, but one of my co-workers went through the same thing with his Dakota.
Good Luck,
Richard
This prob sounds like an engine intake valve is stuck open. This is usually caused by very high revs! Check the compression on this cylinder. Frankster016
