How can i fix squeeks in my center console? The Saturn dealership performed some recall work on the gear shifter. After that the center console squeeked. This ranges from the storage compartment to the section just in front of the gear shifter. I am not sure if there is a way to take apart the center console to either lubricate where the squeeks are occurring or the ability to tighten something. Since Saturn closed, I then went to a Chevy dealership regarding this problem. Very little was done to fix the squeeks. Either I have to take it back or hoping that there is something relatively straight-forward that I could do myself.

Going further with this, is this something the a typical owner could do, or should this be done by a Dealership?

Transmission control module location on my 98 Acura 30 cl

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) on a 1998 Acura 3.0 CL is located under the center console, just in front of the shifter. To access it, you will need to remove the center console by unscrewing and prying off the cover around the shifter and then removing any screws or bolts holding the console in place.
However, slow gear engagement and trouble shifting into 2nd and 3rd gears can have multiple causes, and the TCM may not necessarily be the root cause. It's best to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic or Acura dealership to determine the exact cause of the transmission issues.

2008 pontiac g6 automatic shifter light replacement

There was a recall on this type of issue. Check with your GM dealership for the recall on the gear shift indicator, perhaps it can be fixed with this recall.

I was curious never had a standard shift with your problem. Found a guy which had similar problems but only fifth gear would work. He put some final notes which I will post maybe it will help. His problem was the cable broke so he was not really shifting into gear.(96 Saturn)
1. If you are having the problem, first visually check the cables under the hood - make sure they are still connected
2. Then check the cables visually, inside the engine compartment. The lower cable is hard to see
3. Next thing to check would be where the cables connect to the shifter. You'll need to remove the center console. 2 screws in the back of the console, two at the front behind the fuse panel door, and in the same place on the drivers side. Popout and disconnect the power window switch assm. Pop out the cup holders, twist out the little light. Disconnect the cigarette lighter. The shifter **** is a friction fit - pull up but watch out - mine let loose with a lot of force - watch you head.
Check the cables to make sure they are still connected to shifter. A common problem reported often (not my problem), is the cable bushing breaking. The end of the cable has a plastic ring. In the ring is a bushing that snaps over a piece on the shifter. If the busing breaks, it needs to be replaced. Google it, there is a lot of information on it and after market parts to fix it.

If, you are unlucky like I was, and your cable is broken, you'll need to replace it

Saturn Aura - gear shift will not go into park so I can't start car. Gear shift jammed

My Saturn Aura was having the same issue. I actually found out that there was a recall on my '08. You will probably have to take the car to a Chevy dealership and they will be able to fix it for free! At least if it falls under the recall. Here is the link to the full recall article http://www.lemonauto.com/complaints/gm/saturn_aura.htm

95 SATURN HOW TO TIGHTEN A GEAR SHIFT LINKAGE

I take it that you have a standard transmission ? there is no adjustment, but on the saturns the plastic insert on the shifter lever (remove the center console) is what breaks, Napa auto parts has the replacement part for about $20, or you can go to saturn and spend $200 on replacing both cables

92 Saturn stick shifter has disengaged from gears

There is a very common Saturn stick shift broken bushing problem. You can find repair kits on ebay for less than twenty dollars. Suppose an hour or so to put it in as the console has to be removed to get at the bottom of the shifter. Have your mechanic do a you tube search for a how to video.

How do you take off the center console for a 2004 f 150

My mother had the same problem in her 2004 SC Lariat. All you have to do is pop up that center console where the gear shifter is (it's connected by pop in fastners) and push that white default button on the side of the gear shift. After you get tired of doing this for a bout a week, the dealer will try and charge about 6-$700 bucks for this piece. Luckly we got it replaced for nothing...Thank God!!!

I forgot what the dealer said why was it malfunctioning; you might want to try and see if there is a recall on it first before you go and shell out some money. Hope this helps.

I'm actually surfing through yahoo to fix another problem I'm going through...the flashing climate control unit. Yeah, her's went out and I'm trying to fix it instead of going to the dealer.
