This information should be found in your owner's manual . Go to the index , and look up " Capacities " , or " specifications " . There will be two engine oil capacities , with and without changing the oil filter . ( Changing the filter adds 1/2 , 1 , 2 , or more quarts of oil that is needed for an oil change . )
you should have the owner's manual , if not they are available form the manufacturer , from the conversion manufacturer , the dealer , on line , from " junk yards " , and often your local librarian can help you .
You can find out capacities from the following web site ;

http://www.autozone.com

( You might want to click log in , and fill out the create an account , so you can have all this info whenever you want it . )
At the bottom of the page , click on " Site Map " . On the site map page , find repair help , then click on " Vehicle specifications " . Fill out the year ( 1987 ) , make ( Nissan ) , model ( Maxima ) , and engine ( ? ) , click add vehicle , and it should give you the information you want .

One last thing . there are several aftermarket manuals , such as Haynes , Chiltons , etc., ( often available at your library ) .

1987 Nissan Maxima Hurd to cold start

Verify that the fuel pump is not losing pressure after you shut the engine down, hook up a fuel pressure test gage to the fuel pressure test port in the fuel rail on the top of engine and start the engine, then turn the engine off, the fuel pressure should not drop more than 5 PSI, if it does you need to replace the fuel pump.

My 95 Nissan Maxima has trouble starting in cold have to press on gas to get it to start

I suspect you may not have enough fuel pressure.Fuel injection requires very high pressure to start car and by pumping the gas pedal the car is flooding itself and that let's it start.

Smell raw gas

You have a gas leak somewhere of the tank vent system is leaking or blocked. You need to follow the fuel pipes and vent pipes to find the problem. Some Nissans did have problems with their vent systems, but whatever you do proceed with caution and watch what light source you use.

I have a 1987 nissan maxima and i smell fuel everytime i get out of the car coming from the rear.

I had a simimilar problem with a mazda mpv. start with checking your fuel gauge level then check for a leak.do this after you driven the car for a while.knowing that it is an older car it could be rusted fuel lines or paunctured fuel tank.

Fuel Pressue 1987 Nissan maxima

1st I hope you are taking the fuel pressure from the correct side of the system. The correct side will be the side coming from the fuel filter and before the fuel pressure regulator. At a normal idle, the pressure should be roughly 30-33 psi. When you crack the throttle rapidly, a sudden vacuum drop will cause the diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator to shift causing the fuel pressure to jump sharply. Usually to 45 or 50 psi. You can check the maximum fuel pressure by dead heading the pump. This can be done by simply pinching off the return hose to the fuel tank. At an idle, the maximum fuel pressure the pump will put out will be displayed. You will also notice a slight jump in rpm's because it cause the fuel mixture to fatten up before the ECM can respond to changing the pulse width based off of the o2 sensor.
I hope my answer was satisfactory.
