Does the engine crank, but not start or will it not crank?
If not cranking, test battery, clean post and check wires for corrosion and good contact. Also check the ground wire between the engine block and the car body for good contact. If all good there, may be a problem in the ignition switch.
If the engine cranks but will not start, check the pressure on the fuel rail. If good pressure, check the ignition module.
cranks, ok
(ill pretend engine is good, in real life, never)
check spark next.
ever check spark, same way for 100 years , 1zillion google hits.
gas engines.
that is step one, check all cylinder for best answers.
one dead is totally different than ALL DEAD.
, if spark is bad.
use any scan tool to see why , crank for 5seconds release key
and BAM< there is a clue. !!!!
in RPM is good, cranking and CMP and CKP are happy then
that IS ANOTHER CLUE>
EVIDENCE.
You shouldn't have any gas smells, maybe a little if the engine were cranking over without starting. But your car is not even cranking, right? Or will it crank and not start? In that case you might smell a little gas, so next step would be to check for spark.
The leak on front passenger side: if that is where the front of the engine is, check carefully your water pump for leaking (then it is bad) and also check all hose connections there for leaks.
Sudden no-start conditions are usually loss of either spark or gas to the cylinders. These are the first things to check when it won't start.
Make sure battery has a full charge. Have a helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse.
CAR WILL NOT START? There are some possibilities which you
will have to check in this case:-- 1) First of all check the power and
voltage to the battery. With meter it will show exact 12 volt if the
battery is charged. If the voltage is less get the battery charged at local
auto repair shop. If the battery is internally drained and not getting charged
then its time to replace the battery. 2) When you crank the car do you see
spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs
and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time
to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack. 3) The other thing to check in this case
is the starter solenoid of the car. If the battery is charged and you start the
car then it gives power to the starter to start the car. But if starter is
faulty or not connected properly then car will not start. 4) The other thing to check in this case
is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the
fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the
fuel pump. 5) If all the above possibilities
mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then it’s a electrical issue and
the wiring's in the car needs to be checked. The car gets
power from the battery to get started. so the wires from battery needs to be
checked one by one. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this
solution and show your appreciation.
Crank sensor controls fuel not sprark. Check the cam sensor, this sensor is usually on the head of the engine. Check for this sensor on the top left or right sides of the engine (it depends if turbo/none turbo). Another issue that may cause no spark is failed ignition coil. The ignition coil is on top of the engine, with 4 wires routing to the spark plugs. Hopefully this helps!!
check the battery and make sure it has a fully charge, also check to make sure the start motor pinion is not jammed in the flywheel, and check the coil pack to make sure have spark.also check the crank sensor
