I do not have a single hub centre nut, I do have 4 thin nuts - how do i get at the rear brakes. I have undone the locking tabs and removed the 4 nuts, now I have a puller under pressure but I am wary of applying any more pressure unless I know what I am doing.
my original problem is a spinning wheel securing stud with a seized nut.

You need to get a bolt with the same diameter and thread pitch as the brake drumretaining screws. On my 1997 Escort that's an 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch bolt. The length should be about 12mm. or larger. Don't get a bolt that's longer than about 20mm. The bolt goes into a hole in the brake drum, bearing down on a plate inside the hub. You can't use a brake drum retaining screw because you need to be able to apply more torque to the fastener than could be safely applied to a jacked vehicle

yes it is one big nut, however it looks like 4 individual nuts due to the fact that they are a thinly stacked layer or thin nuts held together by what you called the tab washer............only way to replace is to get a new one from ford........
Testimonial: "Thank-you for that, I have ordered a new one from the ford dealers. I just wonder why the 4 nuts were fitted in the first place? thank you"
