if you change your own oil, try taking off the negative wire and turn the key on and off several times. otherwise you have to take it to a mechanic to reset the codes. you can also try resetting your mileage to service

To reset CHANGE
OIL SOON/OIL CHANGE REQUIRED message on the Message Center, press
the SET UP control to access the System Check mode. Press and
release the RESET button to display “OIL LIFE % HOLD RESET NEW” is
displayed. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 seconds until “IF
NEW OIL HOLD RESET” is displayed. Press and hold RESET button until
“OIL LIFE SET TO 100%” is displayed.
Ford Five Hundred,
Freestyle, Mercury Montego 2005-06 Tap the ODO/TRIP button to toggle
the display between the odometer and trip odometer. Tap on the
ODOiTRIP button again to toggle the display between the trip
odometer and OIL LIFE % display. Press and hold the ODO/IRIP button
for 2 seconds or more to display OIL LIFE 100%. Your oil life in now
reset.
The following procedure should reset your oil change light:
Turn ignition to the "ON" position.
Quickly press button to
the left of the spedometer twice.
Turn ignition off. Press and hold button and
turn ignition tothe "ON" position. Continue to hold button until new interval is
displayed and a chime is heard.

To reset your maintenance reminder system (even if the light hasn’t come on yet), you’ll need to turn your key to on (but don’t start!) and make sure your odometer is on TRIP A. Then key off. Press and hold the Odometer/Trip button. While holding down on the button, key the ignition to on (Don’t start the engine!) The display panel will count down from “------“ to “-“Continue pressing the button until the Trip A is displayed. After this step, you are done.
This is the reset proceedure for a 2008 Highlander with a key-type ignition:
Turn the key ON, do not start the engine.
Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "TRIP A". If it is on "ODO" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "TRIP A".
Turn the key OFF.
Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it IN. DO not release it.
Turn the key ON, do not start the engine
Observe the Odometer display. You will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, whatever number that was displayed on "TRIP A" will be re-displayed..
Now release the black trip meter reset stick.
This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.
