When removing the lower kick panel under the steering column in a 2004 Grand Cherokee to replace a relay, are there any plastic clips holding the kick plate on? I removed one screw from the driver side door and two bolts from the bottom. It is loose but something is catching so I don't want to rip it off if there are additional screws or bolts. Thanks!

How to remove steering column on a 2005 Buick LeSabre

Steering Column Replacement Hope this helps?

Tools Required

• J 42640 Steering Column Lock Pin
• J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

Removal Procedure

Warning! Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
Caution! The wheels of the vehicle must be straight ahead and the steering column in the LOCK position before disconnecting the steering column or intermediate shaft from the steering gear. Failure to do so will cause the SIR coil assembly to become uncentered, which may cause damage to the coil assembly.
Caution! Once the steering column is removed from the car, the column is extremely susceptible to damage. Dropping the column on its end could collapse the steering shaft or loosen the plastic injections which maintain column rigidity. Leaning on the column could cause the jacket to bend or deform. Any of the above damage could impair the column's collapsible design. If it is necessary to remove the steering wheel, use only the specified steering wheel puller. Under no conditions should the end of the shaft be hammered upon as hammering could loosen plastic injections which maintain column rigidity.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in SIR.

  2. Insert J 42640 into the steering column access hole in order to lock the steering column. This will maintain the correct orientation.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Remove the intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt.
  5. Remove the intermediate shaft from the steering gear.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

  7. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Bracket Replacement - Knee Bolster in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  8. Disconnect the steering column wiring harness connector from the main body wiring harness.
  9. Disconnect the shift lever cable from the linear shift assembly.

  10. Remove the shift cable retaining clip.

  11. Press the shift cable tabs (1) together and remove the shift cable (2) from the steering column.

  12. Caution! The steering column should never be supported only by the lower support bracket. Damage to the lower support could result.
Important Stabilize the studs in order to remove the nuts securing the steering column to the instrument panel.
  13. Support the column.

  14. Remove the lower steering column retaining nuts.
  15. Remove the upper steering column retaining nuts.
  16. Important Discard the clips at the upper steering column support, if equipped. These clips are for assembly plant usage only.
  17. Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
  18. Install the steering column into J 41352 .

How to replace a relay switch for a 1999 jeep grand cherokee

The relay on our 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was located behind the headlight on the passenger side of the vehicle. technicians at the Jeep dealership that you have to remove the bumper to get to it OR you can remove the headlight assembly and drill a hole large enough to get a socket and extension to the bolts on the relay..removed the headlight and drilled a 5/8" hole to get to the relay screws.
Why Jeep puts this relay in such a hard place to reach is beside me - - - other than perhaps they don't want it to be easily customer replaceable. Argh! Good luck.

Turn single only workes when i turn the hazerlight on then shut it off

I had the exact same problem w/ my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Fairly simple fix. It is the flasher relay, OEM Mopar Part #4686094, pay around $45 for the part at the dealer.
Take kick plate trim off (3 screws and clips holding it on) remove fuse cover (pops off) remove plastic shroud in front of steering wheel below the instrument gauges(pops off) remove large plastic shroud under steering wheel, (2-10mm bolts, clips and one phillips screw holding in place). Relay will be above fuse box, very tight fit but with a little nudging and nimble fingers pop out the old relay and replace with new one. Re-install all equipment in reverse order. Solved my turn signal problem immediately. Good luck

Where are the flasher in 2004 jeep cherokee 4wd

i found mine under the dash on the drivers side. I had to take the panel under the steering wheel off (plastic and metal), then i turned the turn signal on and listen for the relay, pinpointed where it was and replaced it. I do have to say that I was a little frustrated with the location. There is all kinds of room under the dash and they had to tuck it way in the top corner where i could barely get my hands in to replace it. Ultimately I think there will be a time when most people won't be able to work on their own cars

Where is the flasher can located on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Classic)? Cant find it anywhere.

are you refering to flashers not working and need to find the relay? If so its located in the fuse/relay box (under dash left of the steering column) most likely its the largest (black) relay in there. OEM part# 4686094 its easier to access by removing lower trim panel and or knee blocker.

How do you remove the dash board on a grand marquis 1996

It is best to remove the front seat then remove the outer trim work on the dash which are fastened with clips. Then remove the screws which hold the heater/AC controls and also the dash panel such as speedometer etc. Remove the lower plastic shield from around the steering column and disconnect the transmission gear position indicator cable. Remove the plastic covering between the steering column and the drivers knees. Their are mounting bolts in the dash and under neath as well and also barbed fasteners. Remove the steering wheel column mounting bolts and it's support brackets. Lower the steering column to the floor. Remove the front door coverings located near the door hinges. Be carefull not to break the fasteners. They pry out of the door weather stripping and then you lift up on them. This will give you access to the lower dash mounting brackets.
With the steering column lowered remove the plastic trim under the windshield. It pops out and givces you access to the front dash mounting screws. disconnest the headlight photo cell control, disconnect the clock, radio and all other pigtail connections that would otherwise interfear with removing the dash. I remove the speedometer electronic cluster as well. Disconnect the AC/heater upper and lower duct work. They are generally fastened with screws and and you have to look for them.
The dash is fastened by the previously mentiond screws located below the windshield and by bolts located near the door which can be seen when the trim is removed also by lower bracket that are braced and is easily identified. These bolts heads are # 10 metric. I have probably forgotten a couple of items but this should get you through the worse of it.
The Mercury Grand Marquis and the Crown Victoria both tend to have blend door problems for the climate control and the dash has to come out to access the blend door control.
