When I push the clutch in on my 97 Saturn SL2 the RPM's don't drop, they will go to about 2500. When I come to a stop they will go down after about 5 seconds, but only if I stop. Speed sensor maybe? The idle is ok, because if I'm not moving it stays at 700 RPMs.
On the s series it was very common for carbon to build up inside the idle air control valve-IAC valve.there are too expensive and are easy to fix-buy the part so you know what is looks like the look at your throttle body(follow your air filter box tube to the top of the engine-the throttle body)the iac is right there.
