I was able to replace this bulb via the wheel well. There were 4 small screws holding the liner on. I was then able to bend the liner back + turn the light bulb dust cover and remove it. The bulb assembly also had to be turned to pull it out. I then removed the wireplug. My bulb was intact + the wire connecting to the bulb was the problem. I simply brushed off some of the carbon residue from the wireset overheating. Then reattached it which worked long enough to buy a new wireset. I am very disapointed I had to do this basic repair on my fairly new outlook 500 miles out of a 36k warranty
YES! collins561 is correct... 4 screws in the wheel well and you can get to it pretty easily. You have to do it by feel, but it only took about 5 minutes. Thanks!
Thanks rcollins561. You saved me a lot of time
Excellent tip. Same issue here with the overheating harness, i'll address with my dealer at a later date. I took the tire/wheel off first and bent the wheel well lining back and stuck it behind the break rotor assembly to keep it out of my way. Light years easier than taking off the bumper/grill assembly.
Thanks for the advice. The dealer wanted $17 for the bulb and then another $30 for labor -- for a 10 minute job.

You must remove the front bumper to remove the headlight to replace the bulb,,,not fun,,,,there is actually a tech bulletin on this some of the outlooks need a new updated wire harness for the headlight,so it dont short out the bulb, the harness melts,if its under warranty yet,3 years or 36000 miles its free, i would take it to the dealer
Rcollins561 is right! Removing the wheel and wheel well cover gives you access to the low beam bulb. Take the bulb cover off and then push in and turn the bulb assembly and it will come right out. GM wanted $250 to replace the bulb because they claimed you had to remove the front bumper. We did it at home for the cost of the bulb ($14)! (Make sure you don't touch the new bulb with your bare hands.) Thank you rcollins561!!!!

To replace a headlamp on a Saturn Outlook you need to access it via the wheel well. So jack up the car and remove the front tire. You'll see a collection of phillips head trim screws and plastic snap in panel connectors holding the plastic wheel well in place. Remove the screws and snap in connectors. To remove the connectors, pry the center button up with a small screwdriver. One it's up the whole connector should pop free.
Remove the wheel well.
Turn the black plastic cap on the back of the headlamp assembly 1/4 turn counterclockwise and it should come free. Now the lamp wiring and connector should be visible. Turn the lamp ~90 degrees and it should pop free. Test the bulb. More people have problems with the wiring connection and the bulb is usually OK.
SOURCE: want to replace bulb in headlight in 2007 saturn outlook how hard is it"
It's not hard. Open the hood, locate the backside of the lite thats out(follow the wires) give the housing a slight counter-clockwise turn to remove it.
The bulb should pull out. Use a tissue to re-install the new bulb, as the oils on your fingers will cause the new one to overheat and burn out, prematurly

actually according to saturn you must remove the front bumper to remove the headlight to be able to replace the bulb,,,if you got small hand you can remove the front part of the inner fender liner and go up thru there and do it,you cant see it ,, you gotta feel it,yes dumb idea i agree,i gotta work on them all day
SOURCE: How do I remove the headlight assembly
if you have the regular headlights(not the HID) there is a TSB for that at the dealer and they will fix it for free as long as you are under the 36000 miles,,anyhow to get the headlight out you need to remove the front bumper cover,,pop the hood, remove all the pushpin that hold the plastic panel on near the front area then remove the plastic cover,,,,,then there are some phillips head screws along the front of the top of the bumper cover take these out,,,,now remove both front wheels,,remove the bolts that hold the inner fender liners inplace there are some in front and under the lower bumper cover take these out too,,,,then under the front bumper cover at about the middle there will be 2 bolts i think 10mm remove theses to,,,,now where the side of the bumper cover meets the fender inside there are 3 bolts on each side remove these i think they are 7 or 8mm and then pull the bumper cover off,,,if you have fog lights disconnect the plugs,,then you will see all the bolts holding the headlight in take them out and then it comes out,,,,i know its alot of work just for a headlight ,,,,
SOURCE: How do I change a burned out headlight in a 2008
you must remove the front bumper cover,to gewt to the bolts thathold the headlight in to remove them to get the headlight out to change the bulb,,,,its involved,i would suggest take it to the dealer,if you really know what you are doing you can remove the inner fender liners and shove you hand way up there and swap out the bulb but you gotta be really good and know what youre doing,,,its a dumb set up
