I have a Ford Focus 2006. It has come up with cos PO700 - Transmission control System On the dash it said Transmission malfunction D Was advised to take it to an Auto Electrician who found these codes when checking; PO700 - Transmission Control System PO4060 - Fuel Level Sensor But he is unable to find what these codes relate to. The car has a hesitation sometimes when changing gears and then "snaps" into gear Auto transmission specialist said it is not mechanical. Can anyone help me please or will I have to take to Ford dealer?

P0460 - Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit Description: The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the fuel level input (FLI) circuit for electrical failure. The test fails when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum allowable calibrated parameters for a specified fuel fill percentage in the fuel tank. Possible Causes:

  • Empty fuel tank
  • Fuel pump (FP) module concern
  • Incorrectly installed fuel gauge
  • Damaged instrument cluster
  • CASE GND circuit open
  • FLI shorted to VPWR
  • Overfilled fuel tank
  • Damaged fuel gauge
  • FLI circuit open
  • FLI circuit shorted to CASE GND or PWR GND
  • CSE GND shorted to VPWR
  • Damaged PCM
Diagnostic Aids: Monitor the FLI and FLI V PIDs in key ON, engine running. A concern is present if the FLI PID is at 25% fill and the FLI V PID is less than 0.90 volt with a non-matching fuel gauge or the FLI PID is at 75% fill and the FLI V PID is greater than 2.45 volts with a non-matching fuel gauge. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory Ranger GO to Pinpoint Test HX . All others Refer to the Workshop Manual Section 413-01, Instrument Cluster for fuel level indicator diagnosis.
Your best bet would be to take it to a Ford dealer ,

SOURCE: my 2006 dodge 2500 with 48RE Transmission is not

I had the same problem, Replace the govenor pressure sensor. There is a TSB out for this as well, I replaced bolth sensors that are mounted in the valve body of the trans. When I did mine I also adjusting the bands and now it is like a new trans. It was not hard and all the information can be found by searching. I think the sensors ran about $148 for bolth. You will need to remove the trans pan to complete this job if you are doing this. Hope this helps out.

Why does a red light come up on the dash board saying a transmission malfunction on my focus 08

The light is on because something has malfunctioned in the transmission system, this can be a sensor or wiring or the transmission has a mechanical fault. The next step is to have a scanner hooked up and read the fault code that was set in the control modules memory when it turned on the warning light. This may require a trip to the local dealer.

As both show the TCM as a common point of the fault I would replace it.
