I first noticed a problem when accelating slowly, my rpm seemed to stay at 2, and did not drop until a few seconds after i took my foot of the brake. Then while driving at a steady speed of 45-50 mph the rpm jumps up to 3 and down to 2 wildly, and when I take my foot off the gas it still does it. It also takes a long time to go down after taking my foot of gas.
Please help
ps. I took it to my shop and they said it was the cluster board, and to take it to the dealer who said that that was not the problem.
SOURCE: Blazer runs rough when running at 45 to 55 mph
the problem was low transmission fluid. added half a quart and the problem went away.
SOURCE: RPM run high and slow to drop down
a vacuum leak will cause a high idle due to he fact more air is entering the engine which the computer will compensate by adding more fuel. also, a faulty fuel pressure regulator will increase fuel pressure delivering more fuel than required.
look for broken or detatched vacuum hoses. check fuel pressure; 30-50psi

I hope I'm wrong but I think your torque converter is failing. Sorry, Gary
SOURCE: My 05 Trailblazer has what I would call a surging
Replace TPS (throttle positioning sensor) they're a rheostat that eventually burns a wear spot causing that surge.
SOURCE: RPM is @1500 say 60
Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes reconnect the battery then start the car and put it into the D postion with your for on the brake for 30 seconds then while still holding the brake put the car the N postion for 30 seconds still holding the brake now put the car back into the D postion for 30 seconds then put the car into the PARK postion and shut it off. Wait 10 second then start it and take it for for a test drive. Make sure the a/c is off and the radio, wipers are off while doing this procedure. This is called an adaptive relearn.
