Getting obd code PO171

Rough idle and can smell exhaust backing up into cabin. Had IAC valve, IAC motor, and throttle position sensor replaced last month. Autozone told me to try injector cleaner first which i just put in, will find out if it works better tomorrow. If it is the MAF or O2 sensors, how much of a pain are they to replace myself and where can I find diagrams and instructions on how to do it?

the cat was fine according to a mechaninc friend. we replaced the O2 sensors and it worked a few days. Gas mileage is crappy again, but at least the exhaust isnt coming into the cabin.

1997 buick lesabre- scan codes p300,p420,p1870,p1641. new plugs, wires, oil, filter, throttle blade cleaned, maf sensor, tps changed. now no acceleration with rough idle. could it be iac valve?

How about a blocked exhaust converter

They only last 12 to 14 years, under perfect
fuel trim conditions, with no misfires & you have
those or did

You changed the fuel filter & checked pressure at the motor?

IAC-Idle air control--so no--idle control is not your problem

2003 f150 with a 4.6 eng. trouble codes po174 po125 po171 p1131 po136 po156 p1151

All of the codes you are getting except for one are indicating a running lean condition. This is most likely due to a vacuum leak or the pintle on the egr valve is worn out allowing exhaust gases to pass through all the time. If you have access to a monitor check the iac duty cycle as well as the dpfe sensor. If the iac is reading less than forty percent you have a vacuum leak. As well if the dpfe is reading above 1.13 volts the egr valve is bypassing. The last code you have is being caused by a faulty thermostat.

1996 dodge caravan 2.4 code p1294

the fault code clears and comes back as a intermittent problem

could be electrical voltage drop off or heat related failure

i wonder if your 02 sensor ,the catalytic converter
or other related sensors
are causing the fault to come back
if needed .....fit a new air filter...

2004 Grand Pix starting running rough all of the sudden. I tuned it up and replaced the engnition module and it still running rough any suggestions?

Electronic Engine Controls WARNING
To avoid personal injury and/or vehicle damage, refer to the service precautions at the beginning of this section.
General Information The Engine Management System (EMS) uses several different sensors and actuators to gather and control various emissions and driveability aspects of the vehicle. These may include but are not limited to:
  • MAP - Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
  • BARO - Barometric Pressure Sensor
  • FTP - Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
  • ECT - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
  • A/F - Air Fuel Ratio Sensor
  • APP - Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor
  • CKP - Crankshaft Position Sensor
  • CMP - Camshaft Position Sensor
  • EGR Valve Position - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Position Sensor
  • HO 2S - Heated Oxygen Sensor
  • IAC - Idle Air Control Valve
  • IAT - Intake Air Temperature Sensor
  • KS - Knock Sensor
  • MAF - Mass Air Flow Sensor
  • TP - Throttle Position Sensor
---
Are there any codes that point to a problem with any of the above sensors?

Why is my grand 2004 grand cherochee idoling rough

The idle air control valve (IAC) may be stuck or failing. This solenoid-type device controls the airflow into the engine at idle. It is fed control input signals from the engine's computer. Over time, the IAC valve may become dirty from EGR gases and carbon, etc. It may have a worn pintle (valve head) or the return spring may be weak or broken, causing a rough idle or even stalling from an over-rich fuel/air mixture. The second thing to have checked is the throttle position sensor.TPS. These devices will "flag" a fault on your vehicle's onboard OBD-II computer, which a decent code reader/scanner can display and clear. Third, a dirty throttle body housing/venturi can cause rough idling and poor response. A special cleaner is needed to remove oil and carbon residues from the specially-coated inner surfaces of the throttle body. Fourth; you may have a Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) that might be failing/malfunctioning. Some vehicles use these instead of the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, which you may have. These sensors need to be checked and verified that they are functioning properly. Fifth; check/change your vehicle's fuel filter, and verify proper/adequate fuel pump pressure and flow performance. Don't run your vehicle below 1/4 tank of fuel...doing this sharply reduces the life and cooling of the in-tank electric fuel pump. These are not cheap, or easy to replace!
