Solution for the message "engine fail safe mode" in explorer 2005

I have hearing a lot of this lately with Fords. Most of the time this dash board light comes on due to problems with the Throttle Body (TB)not just your coolant,etc.. If it is sticking,dirty,causing misfires,etc. then this can cause an engine fail safe mode.You might first try putting in some injector cleaner and a higher grade of gas.Many people I know who have had this problem have had to have their TB cleaned and/or replaced. This is something Ford dealerships now about,but hasn't been made a recall or anything.There are service bulletins though.Mainly keeping cleaner in your gas and performing ritual tune-ups/oil changes may be the only thing you can do.Hope this helps

I got this failsafe mode when the DamperPulley that runs on crankshaft broke due to rusted ballbearing.

Get full coverage insurance and total it!!! my 2005 explorer is living up to its reputation.... Found On Road Dead... Learned my lesson, i will NEVER own another FORD!!! ps, i do have the oil changed routinely at 3,000 miles and serviced, but still learning the hard way about buying junk vehicles.. another upset american going back to foriegn autos..

This is how I was able to remove failsafe mode from my vehicle I have a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer when my car went into failsafe mode I was shocked as you were I discovered that if I took off the positive battery cable from the battery post waited a few seconds took a wire and jumped into the negative battery post to the positive battery cable this would deplete the internal battery in my PCM which would wipe out the failsafe mode the and you will be able to drive the vehicle you'll have to find out what is causing the cold to prevent it from coming back up again I hope this helps
