2000 Ford Ranger AC Problem:

I have a 2000 Ranger with a 3.0L V6. The air conditioning is fully charged and blows beer-tap cold... After a while. It takes nearly 10-15 minutes of the engine running and the AC being turned on before the compressor clutch engages. Once it does, it runs like a champ, but I have to deal with 15 minutes of hot, muggy air first... Any thoughts?

How do you know it is fully charged?Did you just charge it?There are many different ways to go about finding out what is wrong. If there is not enough or proper amount of freon and oil then your AC may not work or work intermittently. It may be that and once your vehicles AC has been engaged for a while it builds up pressure and then kicks the compressor on.Hooking it up to pressure gauges is about the only way to be sure of the "Charge" of your AC system. Also check your compressor.Does it look fine?Any leaks?Any freezing of lines?Etc.It is always possible that your relay is not operating properly. There are many different things that could be a factor in it working.Even check out your temp switch.Maybe you could check these things and post back and we'll go from there.Good luck and hope this helps.

I also have the same problem with my 2001 ford ranger. I have big machine here at the shop. The a/c system is fully charged. So far I have changed out the orifice tube.. the acccumulator, the cycle switch, and jumped the high side pressure switch. It has progessively got worse. It use to be around 10min now it is around 20 to 30. Any ideas?

Low charge or bad sensor telling the system it has low charge, or dryer is clogged.

What cause the ac on a 2003 Ford F-150 not to blow air .

Not blowing air or cold air? No cold air need to check the charge. All doors need to be checked to make sure they move fully. A partially opening or closing door will feel hot on a hot day. I think you need a new car guy and you need an ac guy.

Why is my 1998 ford ranger ac not cold

Likely, you are low on refrigerant. Judging from your question, I will assume that you are unfamiliar with air conditioning systems, and recommend that you take the vehicle to a certified repair garage for service.

AC blows hot until driving then blows cold?

Is the fan pulling enough air thru the radiator and condenser when the truck is parked ? Have you checked gauge pressure for high and low sides and is it normal ? And is the compressor running when the truck is parked ?

05 ford ranger 3.0......if I put my thermostat on cold...the vent blows hot air..on max ac..its cold air..makes no sense right....help

Cold air like, really cold or just cool. Sounds like your hot/cold blend door motor has perhaps failed with the blend door in the semi hot position. Blend door motor failure is very common on the Ford truck HVAC systems. Is is located behind the glovebox on top of the HVAC housing assembly.

I have a 2001 ford ranger v6 4.0sohc the air conditoning

I don't know what relay switch you are speaking of, but the is a low pressure cutout switch on the receiver/dryer. (Small black tank in passenger rear of engine compartment). It cycles the compressor on and off with changes in the low pressure side of the system. If you have to move anything to get it working, chances are you have a bad wire or connecter going to the switch. Look for looseness in the wire or burned spots near the contacts. Again, I am not sure of the switch you are talking about. What is it's location?
