Change Oil light is on. I changed oil and now

You mean the message`'oil change overdue' or the RED WARNING LIGHT looks like Aladdin's lamp?
Serious problem if the RED WARNING lamp. Do not start or run it until it's looked at by professionals. don-ohio

To reset the oil change warning light:

1. Turn on the ignition (not the engine).

2. Hold down the brake and accelerator for twenty seconds until the warning light goes off.

if you don`t hear any engine noise then its more than likely the oil pressure switch is acting up. this is likely a coincidence that it happened after the oil change. have the oil pressure switch replaced.

Turn the key switch on but don't start the engine.
Depress the gas pedal to the floor three times within 10 seconds.
Turn the key switch off.

The oil pressure light is supposed to come on when you switch the ignition on, and then go off within seconds of the engine starting. If however it is an oil level light, it is not supposed to come on until the oil level falls to the stage where it needs to warn you that it requires top up. That light should reset itself after you changed the oil .If you have changed the oil and it doesn't reset ,try disconnecting the batter for about 5 mins. check your milage, see how many miles you normally drive before that light normally comes on. That is so, if that light dosen't come on ,you will know its time to change the oil. If that light doesn't come on at the right amount of miles,have your oil changed at the dealer and ask them to check the oil change warning light .If they find nothing wrong ,no charge . This warning light is fairly new ,in the old days people just guessed ,its about time to change the oil !

It depends on what warning light is on!
In any case, from your description and experience, it would be your engine 'Oil' warning light: it comes on when there is not enough lubrication (thus the overheating) flowing because of low oil pressure: immediately check your oil leveland top up as required) and make sure that change your oil and oil filter as soon as possible as it is a very damaging condition and the engine could seize.

Oil change warning light may be on from bad oil pressure sending unit or oil switch.If they are not bad or have been changed,unplug battery for one minute then reconnect

do this.. The oil lite is on a timer.. turn key on ( not running ) pump the gas pedal 3 times.. lemmie know if it worked
