The compass on my 2003 silverado just suddenly stopped being accurate. Anyone have a fix? Is it a module I can change? Thanks. Bill

Just try recalibrating it first.Fist go to a empty parking lot and make sure there are not any big metal buildings or power lines.Press the compass button til it displays C or Cal.There will be a zone number that should appear. This number has to do with what zone your in.For instance I am in Wisconsin my zone is 8.So it depends on where you are on what your zone number will be.This has to be put in order for the compass to be accurate.Once this is in then drive the vehicle in a circle til the compass reads the correct heading. You have to go under 5 mph.Let me know if you need anymore help.Good luck.

2003 Silverado 1500. Getting error codes P0120 + P0220 + P1516 + P1518.

All the P**** codes can be found on Google. Here is the first one. All the links tell the problem and the fix. They are all regarding the throttle pedal position.

and the second one

The P0220 code means that the vehicle's powertrain control module has detected a voltage or resistance reading that is outside of specifications that were set by the manufacturer for this circuit.

How do you calibrate the compass on a 2002 Ford Windstar

Copied from alldatadiy.com for 2002 Ford Truck Windstar V6-3.8L.....

Compass Calibration

1. Start the vehicle and locate the compass module mounted on the base of the mirror.

NOTE: For optimum calibration, drive to an open, level location away from large metallic objects or structures. Switch off all non-essential electrical accessories (rear window defrost, heater, A/C, map lamps, wipers, etc.) and make sure all doors are shut.

2. Press the RESET button until RESET to CAL is displayed in the message center display.

NOTE: To exit the calibration adjustment mode before carrying out a compass adjustment, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

3. Slowly drive the vehicle in a circle no more than five times at no more than 5 km/h (3 mph) until CIRCLE slowly changes to CALIBRATION COMPLETED in the message center display.

The airbag light stays on and the temperature and compass display on the rearview mirror won't work.

2003 Chevy Silverado
our rearview mirror has gone off and the airbag light stays on.
i've determined that this is a fuse, the SIR fuse under the hood, but what I can't figure out is why it's blowing.
It's either something to do with when we hook up the lights to the trailer or it might be from where we installed a new car stereo.
I took it to the Chevy dealer for some other things and told them there was a fuse blown to the rearview mirror and to the airbag and just asked them to replace the fuse while it was in the shop.
on top of the $700 i was already spending, they charged me $98 to diagnose that it was a blown fuse and like $11 to change it, even though I already told them it was the airbag fuse. Highway robbery. And they wonder why we don't like 'em.

Blinkers and stereo stopped working; then started working a while later; next day the headlights started blinking on and off, then stayed on; is this several fuses?

Fuses do not cause electrical problems - electrical problems case blown fuses. You most likely have a bad connection somewhere or a charging system problem that is making the computers do weird things. The thing to do would be to do a THOROUGH check of your starting and charging system FIRST. Then, ONLY if the starting/charging system receives a "clean bill of health", scan your ENTIRE computer network, including the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Antilock Brake System (ABS) module, Body Control Module (BCM) and any other available modules on your vehicle for fault codes and diagnose according to any fault codes retrieved. Please note that a scan of the entire network is recommended because a power-related fault in one module will usually be reported by another module. (The modules rarely ever tell on themselves.) Clues/codes should be collected from ALL modules to aid in an accurate diagnosis.
