Ford tempo auto seat belts not working

I have a ford tempo lx. i believe its a 93. It has automatic seat belts. the drivers side will not move up or down and is now making this grinding noise, like its trying to move. how do i fix it?

Is this going to be an easy task. We have a salvage yard in town that i have already gotten several parts off of. so i wont have a problem finding it. but how hard is this going to be to replace? is there any way i can just unplug the fuse so it just wont move for now. its really annoying!

mine does the same thing! I think it's draining my battery too because ever since it started doing that, my car is having problems starting and today I had to have it jumped. It drives me crazy!!!!!

You will need to replace the trac and motor. Try a salvage yard to save money.

It isn't real hard to replace. You can unplug the motor for now. Remove the panel by the side of the seat between the doors. The motor is all the way down by the floor. If you pull the panel away from the car a little you should see the plug to the motor.

I don't see a panel by my seat...are they in different places in the different cars?

Okay now I have a question. I have/had the electric seat belts and they are just NO MORE!!! i want to replace them with the manual seat belts how do i go about this any information would be appreciated

  • Anonymous Jul 01, 2010

I don't think that any 93 tempo's had seat belts that didn't move on a track but I might be wrong. You could lock the shoulder belt all the way back, but you'll have to duck under it when you get in.

Actually with it locked all the way back you can just get in and then buckle the shoulder belt to the track.. Then when you want to get out, unbuckle both belts.

My automatic seatbelt doesnt work anymore. i have a 1990 accord lx 5-speed and it used to get stuck have way and know it wont recline at all. is it a bad fuse or the computer? i disconnected the seatbelt...

If both passengers and drivers side retractable belts have stopped moving, then it's likely the controller that's located under the passengers seat has gone bad. If only one side has stopped retracting and moving then that side motor has probably gone bad.

Automatic seatbelt stopped moving on the drivers side on my 1994 ford escort lx.What are the steps to follow to fix this?

There is a small circle of plastic on the lower part of the B-pillar of the car, use the Allen wrench that should be in your owners manual to turn the screw inside until it is all the way up then use the emergency disconnect to get in-out. A bit inconvenient but at least you will have a seat-belt.

1991 CIVIC LX AUTOMATIC SEATBELTS NOT WORKING.

I had a problem on a 91 Civic DX where the drivers auto seat belt wouldnt move and the beeper would not stop.Had a blown seat belt fuse.Replaced the fuse no more problem. The Seat belt fuses are located under the red cover that covers the positive battery terminal. On mine the fuse closest to the font of the car was for the drivers side auto seat belt the one closest to the windshield is for the passager seat belt. They are green and rated at 30A.
