2000 4.7 litre V8 Grand Cherokee Laredo, has had two new genuine fuel pumps in less than two years and had the filter/pressure regulator replaced. Goes well for a short time after fitment (this time only 6 months ). The tank has been cleaned also. It takes ages to start and stumbles then kicks into life and drives ok for a couple of miles then sudden loss of power and just crawls home. Has two fault codes of lean running logged. Only 30 psi at idle and virtually no flow and pressure drops to zero as soon as key is turned off.

Have you tried to switch your car on, wait 3 sec's and then start the engine? reason: If the pressure in the fuel system went down very fast, it need some sec's to arrive the pressure it needs to start. Also possible: switch on, wait 2 sec's, switch off, on and start. This does the same I told above. If that works, change the fuel pump or let this item checked be a specialist (it's expensiv to replace it).

You need to check the fuel pressure to the throttle body. If the fuel pump is nearly worn out, it will display similar symptoms. Did you read out any codes on the computer before starting this repair? Good luck!
