Gas gauge goes past full when switch is on

You could use two resistors, Two different ohms specs for full and empty. Place resistor between proper wire colors in diagram. Turn on the key, If gage reacts properly to full and empty resistors, then I think the problem is the sending unit in gas tank. If not, the problem could be almost anywhere, wiring circuit--pcm--instrument cluster. I did see trouble codes relating to fuel gage sending unit. I hesitate to get into that? good luck

Electrical problem most likely a stuck or faulty gas gauge

It's the sending unit in the tank. It is costly. Live with it until the fuel pump acts up or dies.

Sounds like your sending unit could be bad.

The same fuse for the gauge would handle the rest of the cluster.
Probably the sending unit in the tank.

Check the Fuel Sending Unit in the fuel pump. Disconnect the wire to the sending unit, at the tank, and ground it to the car frame. Turn the key to on and see if the fuel gauge goes to Full. If it does the gauge and wire are good and the problem is in the sending unit. If it's still on E the gauge is bad or the wire is open.

Fuel pump sending unit float sticks , circuitry is damaged, defective gauge.

Could be a short to ground on the positive wire leading from the fuel sender.

Fuel level sending units are known to go bad on these.
