Mitsubishi diamante trunk won't unlatch with the key or the electronic door switch. It worked yesterday to put stuff in and when we got back it made a click noise but did not open. After that it would only make an electronic buzz when the door switch was used. Is there a way to get into the trunk otherwise?

Your diamente, has split rear folding seats, however I can't remember how it operates, I believe the release is on the seat inside the car. you can gain access to the truck this way and there is an emergency trunk release (red handle) inside the trunk.. you can use this to open the trunk.. after you open it check all you mounting hardware for loose bolts or damaged hinges, it sounds as if it has shifted and the latch although is functioning it cannot release the trunk or the mechanism itself is not fully operating

My trunk on my Diamante would not open either and there is no key entry for the truck. You led me in the right direction. On my 2004 Diamante I pulled down the cup holder console in that was located in the middle of the rear seats. I opened a small 12" by 12" door that leads to the inside of the truck and found a truck release pull switch attached to the back side of the passenger rear side seat just inside that small door to the left. Thanks. I was able the open the trunk by pulling on that switch. Thanks again.

I have a 98 and what happened was there is a little lever that says free and lock on the latch of the trunk. I had to take the rear seat out by pulling on 2 latches on the lower seat (where your calves would be), it comes right out. The back part required 3 bolts to come out, you can then remove that. Then there is a panel secured by approx. 12 bolts- hopefully you have nothing in the trunk blocking it because it will need to be pushed into the actual trunk capartment, you might have to push hard because there is carpet on the other side. Once in, I was able to flip the lever up. Takes about an 1 1/2 hr. You will need a 10mm and 12mm sockets and it is recommended you have a 2nd person.

Hi the diamante has a piece of metal between the seats and the trunk but it is just bolted on by #12 bolts. the seats don't fold down so you have to take them out of the car. this is actually very easy to do.

1; remove the lower seat cushion by pulling on the 2 leavers between the cushion and the car
2; now you will have 3 bolts holding down the seat rests. unbolt those
3; lift the rear seat rest up towards the roof its just hooked on.
4; now you can unbolt the metal covering the trunk and get in the trunk.

My trunk won't open with a key or the inside button of my 2002 Mitsubishi Diamant?. What is the problem

Would you please describe more details about the failed attempts to open the trunk? When you push the trunk release button. Do you hear the solenoid click? When you insert the key into the trunk. Does the key turn all the way? If so, do you hear a click? Does the key have normal resistance as you turn it or does it feel loose like the linkage is disconnected? Your car should also have a trunk release cable. The lever is on the driver's side floor, near the rocker panel and next to the gas fill door. Please let me know what you know and we will go from there.

Locked keys in trunk and switch does not work

In some cases, depending on the lock. You can place a hairpin pin into the keyhole, and maneuver your way around until the trunk becomes unlocked and opens. or remove rear seat back to get into trunk.

Mitsubishi diamante electronic door switch problem

the following checks need to be made.
All listed components are all share a fuse , and all share the same ground, G200.
Check the fuse/circuit breaker for power on both sides, if OK, follow the harness to connector C214 a 12 pin connector to the right of the glove box opening to see if there is a problem there.
Ground 200 is located on the toe plate at the front edge of the passenger's front door. Check for bad connection there.
If everything is good up to this point you will check The Black/White wire that runs through the main harness under the dash, and splits into several Black/White wires at splice S245, in the main wire harness under the driver side of the dash.

I am trying to put a bulb in the rear tail light and I can't find my owners mannual to help me figure it out. Is there somewhere on line I could find a mannual?

If similar to the 93 diamante that I owned, inside the trunk behind the carpet is a little trap door through which you can replace the bulbs.

Trunk wont open on a 2000 mitsubishi diamante with key, remote nor latch in driver side. how can i get to trunck through backseat?

I don't know if yours has it or not, but on later models you can pull down the center arm rest/cup holder in the back seat. Behind that is a small panel or door that you can open that leads to the trunk area. If you reach inside the opening and to the left, there should be a pull handle to release the trunk lid.
