Oil pressure low when idling. When running engine with throttle, has pressure and light goes off
That is normal, my truck , if it had a light , it would be on, the gauge goes to about 0 when idling and flies right back up when going, When it stops moving is when I'll get worried about it. You might try heavier oil this summer and see if that changes anything. Go with a 10w40. If you are already using this, try straight 40 one time. Hope this helps.

First check the oil level if its good then change the oil if you hav'nt done so all ready and add some LUCAS oil stablizer this may help alot if not then the oil pump is most likley going bad and needs to be replced before the engine lacks oil and cause the engine to seize.

You have a bad oil pump. very common for chevy's to have this issue. my shop truck a chevy has the same issue. could go for a while but will cause damage with prolong use and low oil pressure and will lead to replacing the motor.

I have a Chevy S10 with a 4.3L-V6 engine. The oil pressure is 30# at high RPM and then drops to zero at idle. The engine has 100,000 miles. We pulled the engine and removed the oil pan examined the oil pump and it looked brand new. We then pulled the rear main bearing cap and the #1 rod bearing cap. The bearings looked new with some signs of wear. We then used plasti-gauge and checked the clearance which turned out to be .002 thousandth clearance. We installed a new oil pump and reinstalled the engine into the truck. I still have the same problem. At idle the engine has no knocks.
