Hello after a heavy rain i noticed that the passenger side of my 2005 ford taurus was soaked, i believe that it is coming from the cowling cover. I have looked online and several others have had the same problem, and they have replaced it with a new cowling cover and a rain hat, i have tried to find them online but i can't is this only a dealer item? Thanks Tom
Here' s trick to find water leaks into cabin area,.
Mix a quart of water with a tablespoon of Murphy's Oil Soap (won't harm finish on car) liquid, mixing gently just to mix but not foam.
Start car, and place blower fan on full setting. Close all windows and other openings to try to help increase positive air pressure inside cabin compartment
Get out of car with fan blowing (engine can be running but make sure you don't lock yourself out of car) and gently pour solution on suspected areas. If there's a leak opening, the air from cabin will cause bubbles indicated leak point.
Also raise hood and use solution on fire wall where there are seams and sealant applied. I've seen these be leaks soaking the driver's side floor mats.
If you find a leak, seal it with the best clear silicone caulk, generally about $7 a tube. Clean all areas to be sealed thoroughly of any dirt, oil, grease, or loose rusted metal.
Good Luck

if you can remove the plastic "cowl" section(s) at the base of the windshield and clear out any debris.sticks,dirt,acorns,mud,etc. THEN run a garden hose where the rain normally would run down and "flush"the drainage paths at each end by each fender. see if that fixes the problem. theres also a possibility that the windshield seal could be bad.

It could be that the windshield seal has a leak beneath the cowl. Also, pools of water on the floorboard may be coming from your heater/air conditioner condenser. Check the cabin air filter for wetness, too.
Can you see if the water is on the firewall inside the passenger compartment? You might pull the carpet clips to lower it so you can spot the source of the leak.
If these checks don't pan out, let me know. Maybe we can do more troubleshooting.

There is a technical service bulletin from a long time ago. Tell the dealer to call hotline on oasis. there is a deflector that needs to be installed. Just ask.
