When was fuel filter last changed? Try cycling key just to on, not start, first, then back off, and try to start, see if that works as well.

Hard start

Testing the fuel system for pressure an leak down , hooking up a factory or professional type scanner an checking engine sensor data , doing injector flow testing , testing electrical circuits ,Test the fuel injectors resistance with a ohmmeter. Your best bet take it to a qualified diagnostic technician . A lot of parts could cause your problem (sensors ) . We'd only be guessing without testing an that causes parts that don't need replacing to be replaced .

Ignition is locked, recently changed battery & now can not start truck. tried reseting alarm by unhooking battery, turned steering wheel also played w/ gear shifter to no avail. 2002 avalanche

Turn on the ignition with engine OFF.
Try to start engine, then release the key to ON
Wait 10 or more minutes till SECURITY TELLTALE turns OFF.
Turn OFF the ignition, wait 5 seconds.
Repeat this procedure 3 more times, it takes 30 minutes.
You must turn the ignition key OFF before starting the engine.
To be on the safe side OFF means take the key off, and hold on your hand for 5 seconds.
If you missed something visit GM dealer, and they gladly will provide you a print out of this procedure.
