2003 Saturn Ion died out on the freeway

My daughter's 2003 Saturn Ion died out on her on the freeway just about an hour ago! What's wrong with it? We've had nothing but frustation with this car for the last 4 years, spent most of its time at repair shops. It was only a day ago, the mechanic checked everything out and said nothing was wrong with it!

Sounds like a timing belt,, open the oil cap and look in there with a flash light,,
have someone turn the key if you see nothing moving in there then its the timing belt,,
