Reset the security system and engine immobilizer. Connect a code reader scan tool as see what it shows.

This is the reversing light switch. For $18 it is worth swapping out for a new one, but my feeling is that is something inside the transmission that is not in the right place that actuates it. Hopefully, you might even find it has come loose.

Having said that, this link say the switch does both neutral indicator and reversing light. That gives more reasoning that the switch is faulty.

You'll need to find out what code the computer sends to repair the system first. A diagnostic meter will tell you that. Once the system is repaired, the same meter will reset the light.

Not sure on the Almera, but some vehicles need the light to be re-set with a scanner, it has stored the radiator fault in it's memory, trip to a garage I'm afraid.

dealer only ,software very expensive so its not worthwhile buying this sort of software for the odd job .
