My 1992 Mercedes 190E(1.8) has recently been to 3 garages who have not been able to identify the fault (so no pressure then!!). They weren't Merc dealerships (I'm a pensioner!!). The car is difficult to start in the mornings (car on driveway)but once started and mobile seems to go smoothly enough. The problem arises when I have to stop or slow down at a junction etc, the revs(engine) drop quite quickly and the engine will after a short time cut out unless I keep the revs to 1500+. This is a nightmare in traffic. Its like its over choking or fuel starvation. Its recently had new plugs, HT leads, Dist Cap & rotor arm. Could you plse helpor give me a steer to suggest to the next garage.
Yours hopefully

I,ve had the same problem. After a while, the car would not start easily even when warm. The problem was solved by replacing faulty spark plug wires. I see you have already done this so my only advice is to check those HT leads again by measuring them.
You could have 2 problems. The hard start in the AM could be a bad fuel accumulator and or check valve in the fuel pump. The engine cutting out could be a bad idle stabilization valve, dirty throttle body and housing or a bad 02 sensor, could also be just a CO adjustment. Where are you located?
