Sounds like you have blown either a brake line or could be the master cylinder. Get it checked ASAP You have lost all the brake fluid. Don't drive the car this way or you could kill yourself.
Your 2008 Chevy HHR does take brake fluid. The fluid type is DOT-3 Brake Fluid. The brake fluid reservoir is a small white plastic container. The cap will read DOT-3 or brake fluid, on it. This reservoir will be found against the drivers side firewall. I hope this helps you. Your owners manual has this information inside, if it is available.
There is a manual, It's on CD. I believe the Dodge Caliper has the same brakes. If you can' get the drum off you have loosen a screw in the rear with a screw driver. My family has been changing brakes for years. You don't have to have degree to do this. lol Here's a link to the diagram for a 2008 Avenger.
Where do I check the clutch fluid in my 96 dodge avenger?
