On a water cooled engine... the impeller on the water pump is no longer working correctly. It has probably come loose from the input shaft and is no longer pumping water. You can prove this on a warm engine by filling the radiator to the top and then accelerating / decelerating the engine... if you don't get a change in the water level the water pump is shot.

I am not familar with your specific car but if it overheats after the thermostat make sure the coolant level is full. Some cars can hold qiuite a bit of air in the cooling system. Open the radiator cap and slowly add a 50/50 water/coolant mixture until the radiator is full. With the heater level switched to hot, start the car and watch and see if the coolant level drops it may take a while for the air to move out. If the coolant level is full but it continues to overheat then I would suspect the water pump is not moveing the coolant thru the system or the electrical cooling fans (assuming you have them) are not coming on. If the car has electrical cooling fans and they are not coming on when the car is over heating you may have a sensor problem or an power problem. If the electrical cooling fans turn on but the car overheats although the coolant level is full I's suspect the water pump and/or a radiator that needs to be flushed.

I have a 2000 model VW polo classic 1.8i...it keeps overheating, I replaced the cap before, as the rubber on the cap was worn out...but the car still overheats...I takes a lot of water, becouse when...

did you change the thermostat - if it stuck closed the car will overheat.
if you have a head gasket leak - the temp guage will move around and you will have air bubbles coming in your coolant reservoir - you can also check your oil (dipstick) for signs of water (white slime)

1997 dodge ram 1500 overheats repaced hoses thermostat heater working fine

This sounds like a typical Ram radiator problem. Im willing to bet it does'nt overheat quick. It does it slowly. Even while at highway speeds. If so change the radiator.

I have a 1997 kia overheating i have removed the thermostat

You have to install a new Thermostat because if the motor has no water pump thermostat sends all the coolant to the radiator and therefore the engine never warmed and you will not have heat because the coolant never be heated

Overheats replaced water pump and thermostat no combustion gases found 1997 legacy 2-5 liter

We just did the same car with the same prob. The block was cracked and was pressurizing the cooling system causing the thermostat not to open. Remove your thermostat and run the car if it doesn't overheat you need a motor. Ours didn't show any hydrocarbons in the coolant either, so try the simple

Does anyone know swhere i might find the thermostat on a 1997 olds bravada

You should be able to locate it where the upper radiator house attaches to the engine. At this point there is a clamp holding the hose onto a housing, remove the clamp, remove the hose, there are usually 2 bolts attaching the thermostat housing to the engine, remove the 2 bolts to remove housing, and reveal thermostat. To install a new t-stat, make sure it faces the proper direction, as u can install it backwards and the car will overheat.
