My 96 Jeep GC windshield washer isn't squirting. I can hear it run when pushing the washer button and I hear fluid running ; but it doesn't spray on the windshield. Also , my wiper blade in the rear window isn't working. Is that a fuse issue or what ? (There is fluid squirting from the rear washer but the blade doesn't move). THANKS !!

    Thank You
    I will check for s pinched line. Is the rear wiper motor a big deal to fix yourself ; or should I leave that to a mechanic ?

Sprayers are clogged up. You can clean out the sprayers with a needle, some have two holes so look carefully.

Your rear wiper motor might be faulty,in the front i would check your fluid level-if it is full and you hear the pump running-check your washer lines to see if they are pinched-usually around where the hood closes

  • Anonymous Feb 17, 2010

    it all depends on your mechanic skills-i would say its not that hard but ive been doing for 15 years

Or maybe the tube got disconnected from the pump? Have look inside

The windshield washer not add water

If your windshield washer won't squirt here are some ideas and I hope they work. Where the fluid shoots out on the windshield are the little holes clean sometimes they fill with gum and dirt. Are all the hoses from the unit itself open and free of dirt. If its freezing could be froze up. If all that is ok make sure the pump is running when you push the button. If not check the fuses. If they are ok could be the pump itself.

Windshield washer fluid not spraying

Sounds to me part of the tubing is frozen shut from the pump to nozzle, nozzle may be clogged as well. The pump motor might run, but pump on the end faulty. Remove tubing from pump and see if it squirts out, if so replace tubing to pump and remove tubing from nozzle on hood or wiper, check to see if it squirts from there. IF it does then your nozzle is clogged with wax or ice.

Windshield washer fluid doesn't squirt after windshield replacement

They probably knocked loose one or more of the tubes that carry the washer fluid. Try to trace the lines back from the sprayer nozzles and you may find the problem.

My 2004 Ford Expedition will not spray windshield wiper when the button is pushed. The wipers do turn on, but no spray. Would this be caused by a fuse (the wipers do turn on) or is the motor bad?

Can you hear the washer pump running when you operate the washer switch? The washer pump is in the bottom (side) of the washer fluid reservoir. You should hear it running. If not, you can disconnect the wire connector at the pump and use a test light to check to see if there is power and ground at the connector when you operate the switch. If there is power and ground, replace the washer pump motor. If there is no power or ground, you most likely have a bad washer control switch. (You have to replace the entire Multifunction Switch)

If you can hear the pump running, check for washer fluid pouring on the ground. If this is the case, you have a broken hose between the washer pump and the jets that spray on your windshield.

Also note that there is no way possible that your problem could be CAUSED by a fuse!

1995 saturn My windshield washer doesn't squirt fluid. Which fuse should I check? What else should I look at?

This reply falls under, " what else should I look at."

When you press to squirt, do you hear any sound? if you do there are 3 easy things you can do.

1. Some of the windshield wiper reserviors, ( plastic bottles ), need a minimumlevel of fluid to operate, so, make sure you fill up your reservior.

If that doesn't help;
2. There is a very small hose that runs from the reservior to the pump, pull it off of the pump end, very carefully, and have someone hit the squirter.

If fluid comes through the hose;
3. Take a very small paper clip, straighten one end out, and push it into the ports that the water shoots out of to squirt the windshield.
Sometimes wax or debree can clogg these very little holes.

if your wipers work it is not a fuse,

2001 Buick Regal LS windshield washer fluid does not spray

There are a number of different issues that could cause this.

-The circuit for the wiper should be the same as the washer; same fuse. -I'd suggest trying to run the washer while the hood is open and the engine off. If it runs, you should hear a dull whine.(a 2nd person might be of use to help look and listen)...(find the pump by following the hoses from the wipers to a unit mounted close to the dashboard in the engine compartment)
-If it runs, check to see if any fluid is coming from a hose that might have become disconnected.
-If the pump runs, and if you see no fluid coming from anywhere, and if you can reach the hose connected to the washer pump, pull that hose off the pump. Try running the pump again to see if anything comes out in a good stream.
-If the pump doesn't run at all, check to make sure the connector hasn't come loose.
-If the pump still doesn't run, check to see if you have 12 volts at the connector at the pump. A simple check can be done with an auto bulb connected to the plug at the motor while the pump switch is pushed.
-If you have power at that point, you likely need to replace the pump and motor.(depending upon the age of vehicle & your mechanical abilities...a call to a local wrecking yard is suggested ..atleast to compare the cost vs. new)

hope that helps
