1) turn ignition switch to on position(do not start engine)-- 2) fully depress accelerator pedal slowly three times within 10 seconds -- 3) turn ignition switch to off position --- note if message illuminates when you start the engine the system did not reset. Repeat the process
Take it to TOYOTA dealer and get a oil change, they will scan for free and find problem and tell you and how much, since you came for a oil change, you don't have to let them fix,you can now go fix.I Take my Tundra there for oil changes.
To get a free diagnosis from dealer, take for oil change only, don't say a word about your problem, they will find it and also do a full scan on it and tell you what is wrong and how much to fix, sense you brought in for oil change, you have the option of letting them repair or telling them your not able at the moment and repair yourself,I get my vehicle's oil change at Dealer always, free scan.Me smarter than them.
They probably did not reset the system after the last oil change. Take it back to the mechanic and ask them to reset it.
before you do though, check the oil level to make sure the oil looks fresh and is at the full mark. - you should always do this after every oil change. I have seen cases where the oil got drained, the local drug dealer came by and no one put oil in the car, or they didn't drain it and added new oil to what was already there - very messy problem to fix later.
If the van is running normally otherwise then it may be a bad oil pressure sensor or more likely an idle control sensor. This could potentially be a DIY (trial and error) for someone comfortable with working on cars, but I would take it to a shop ( or a dealer that youn trust) and tell them to check out the sensors. Good luck!
Did you change spark plugs wires? fuel filter? I do not know if your car has MAF sensor, but if it does, clean it. Use CRC- Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner. also check Spark Plugs Gap and coil (s)
CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL SOUND LIKE LOW OIL LEVEL.CHANGE OIL IF IT HAS BEEN OVER 3000 MILES OR OIL LOOKS DIRTY CHANGE IT.IF OIL CHANGE DONT HELP HAVE OIL PRESSURE CHECK TO SEE IF OIL PUMP GOING BAD OR YOU HAVE A FAULTY OIL PRESSURE GAUGE.
