2000 Saturn SL SOHC -- VIN: 7 or VIN: 8...?

The SL is the small 4 door
The SC is the 2 door Sport Coupe
The numbers refer to the engine. The all have a 1.9 liter. "1" is a Single Over Head Cam, 8th VIN will be an "8". "2" is the Dual Over Head Cam, 8th VIN will be a "7"

So a Saturn SL2 with be a 4 door with a DOHC 1.9 liter. SL1 will be a 4 door with a SOHC 1.9 liter. SC2 will be a 2 door with a 1.9 liter DOHC. SC1 will be a 2 door with a 1.9 liter SOHC.

What kind of transmission ?

2000 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0 liter V-6 SOHC VIN "E" and 4.0 liter SOHC V-6 VIN "X" and 4.0 liter SOHC V-6 VIN "K"

Firing Order: 1-4-2-5-3-6


2000 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 liter SOHC V-8 VIN "P"

Firing Order: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

NGK spark plugs, Saturn part number for the SOHC is 21025102 and for the DOHC is 21025103.

The SL2 is a DOHC 1.9L and the SL1 is a SOHC 1.9L. They have different transmissions, the DOHC uses a 15 inch wheel while the SOHC has a 14 inch wheel. So when you are shopping around for another transmission you must get one from the same type of engine. Saturn auto transmissions seem to be problematic, I stuck with the manual trannys and had very good luck.

technician from Saturn Said he didn't know what the problem is ????? There are no Saturn dealers any more . You better find someother qualified repair shop .

it sounds like you are looking at the right part. I do all the oil changes for my families vehicles and everytime i do it never looks like i have either. The reason is that all the dirt and debris from the road clings to the warm oil pan/plug making it look like its been 10 yrs since its been unscrewed. But like i said you are looking at the right place.

Look at this site. Will give you a list after you have input your year and model. Note there are differences between parts for the SL1 SOHC and the SL2 DOHC and could well be differences for manual and auto trans
