Power steering problems on 1996 Ford Ranger 2WD

I noticed when I started out the steering had alot of ''play''. As the day went on, it got harder & harder to turn left. Well, finally It's at the point where I can't make any type of turn to the left! no problems (yet, anyway) turning right. But I cant turn left,it's like steering a car where the power steering went out.I have to struggle & fight with the wheel to turn left.

SOURCE: power steering went out on 1996 ford ranger what is problem?

The problem could be anything from a power steering hose has leaked out all the power steering fluid or the steering rack could be leaking fluid. Has the car made any strange noises when turning the steering wheel? A car that is loosing power steering fluid will at some point lose so much fluid as to make the power steering pump cavitate (starve for fluid) and the pump will make a high pitched noise when it has too little fluid in it. I can't remember if the 1996 ranger had only one belt on the engine or if the power steering has it own seperate belt. The belt being gone would prevent the power steering from working but if you only have one belt the car would also overheat.

SOURCE: my caris a citreon asxo 1.1 it struggles to fire

White smoke is water, suggesting a leaking head gasket or cracked head. Bluish smoke is oil which is usually found in high mileage engines. Engine wear increases the tolerances and allows oil to pass by the rings into the combustion chamber. Broken piston rings could also allow this to happen. There is also a possibility that leaking valves could be the source, if they are not seating properly.
All of these could create a hard start problem, and should be looked at soon because they will keep getting worse. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1996 Ranger 2wd interior fan blows hi spd only

Possible solution is to check the fan speed switch. These go bad and won't change the speed/ or function in the lower speeds.

My 2002 2 wheel has vibration in front end whan i go 55-60 miles per hour. alot of shake in the steering wheel also. what could be the culprit

Hi Mikey. Take the vehicle for wheel balancing and alignment. Get the technician at the centre to inspect the steering and suspension linkages while he's doing the alignment, but I think wheel balancing will sort out your problem. Regards John

I have no power to my coils on a 1996 ford ranger

Did you check the fuses and relays ? You may need to get a wiring diagram to trace the circuit back to the key switch.
