P0300 (random misfire) code

My 2001 xterra has been throwing a random misfire code acompanied by an intermitent hessitation between 2000-300rpm and I can't figure it out. I recently installed new head gaskets (had an external coolant leak) and a timing belt. thought I left a connector loose or maybee a ground wire but over the last couple weeks I have gone over everything with a fine toothed comb (replaced all ground straps and checked wiring). I checked the intake tube for cracks, reset the timing, ajusted the throttle position switch to spec, did an injector/intake cleaning. I did a full tune up in July of '09 (cap, rotor, plugs wires, fuel and air filters) and checked the plug gaps before reinstalling them after the head job. Was thinking it may be time for another tune up, or a possible injector issue, but that would set a specific cylinder misfire??? Could it be a distributor that is "dying" (this distributor has the cam pick up and coil built in) or a sticking EGR or crank possition sensor ??? Any help would be great, thanks.

I would suspect your distributor is faulty. It isn't too hard to remove it and inspect for wear. Set the engine at TDC, then unbolt and remove distributor. Remove cap and check for bearings and/or metallic debris inside of distributor. If so, it is toast. Even if you don't see any metal particles inside, check that the distributor rotates freely by hand. If not, you will need to replace the distributor assembly soon.

2001 Nissan Xterra 3.3l v6 p0300 random cylinder misfire repair

Could very well be your fuel pump getting weak. P0300 Multiple Misfire could be result of lean fuel delivery. When key cycled on, off, on, the pump is being primed so second or third time it starts. Have fuel pressure test preformed Not hard.

0300 reading

P0300 is a code that indicates the engine has a random cylinder misfire. The causes of this are so numerous as to not to be able to provide any real help without hands on testing. You also may need the engine control computer flashed, many vehicle makes did updates because this code keep setting and no problem was found to justify it.

I have a 97 chevy tahoe 5.7 i just did a intake gasket due to the one given out truck ran fine befor i took it a part but now it runs and throws the p0300 code has a slight rough idle

P0300 random misfire, slight rough idle good , by the way your repair is good you dont want a identified misfire, Lets start by what it is not. Not a misposition sparkplug wire you would of gotten that cylinder code, as misfire, Oh try this got carburator cleaner? spray safely along the intake gasket, How about inspecting the vacuum hoses especailly at the map sensor. Here the thing you got. a vacuun leak. on a 5.7 a vacuum leak causes random misfire, by definition P0300 means 2 cylinders or more. By experience its a vacuum leak

Code reader showes random misfire on cyl 1,3,5, have already changed the plugs

if the wrong spark plugs were used it could create a p0300 code. these cars call for ngk or nippon denso plugs. if i understand what you are telling me you have 4 related codes p0300(random missfire)p0301(cyl 1)p0303, and p0305. if this is the case then check your plugs again. if someone put in autolites to save money, throw them in the trash. they have a place, this is just not it. make sure your maintenance is up to date and the timing belt has been changed. it is recomended by hyundai at 60,000 miles.
