Remove Negitive battery cable. Remove 2nd row seat on the side to be replaced or remove bench. You have to do this from the inside of the van with the door closed. Remove the upper trim aroud the window by lifting from the bottom & pull up and out to pop the clips free. Starting on the bottom of the side door panel lift the panel out and up do not brake the upper part around the lock pin. Remove sound proofing sheet. The door motor is at the bottom. Remove the U-Clip holding the drive flex to the motor use neddle nose pillers. Use a trim tool or pillers to reve the plastic push fasterners. If using pillers use the pillers only on the flat side. ##Note have seen motors attached with bolts. Remove motor. Instalation is reverse of removal. Note## When installing sound proof sheet aplly spray tact.

Automatic Sliding Door problems on 2005 Dodge Caravan

We have the same problem, just opposite doors - the passenger slider will close to 80%, but the driver still functions fine. There must be an easier solution than new wiring harness/motor??

Sliding door wires 2005 caravan

Hi my name is Allen!

Those wires are called track wiring and it depends what options you have, if you have power sliding doors, they run power and ground to the motor that moves the door, it's a common problem for the wire to break and your door want move. If thats what your problem is, just replace the wiring and the power door will work properly. The wiring is also for the power locks so they will lock and unlock.

Dodge caravan sliding doors

First, keep in mind that as you begin to remove these doors you run the risk of causing serious scratches to the paint and glass, so put some masking tape and/or plastic sheeting around both sides of the door (rear quarter panel and rear glass, front door and front door glass)
I would get a Haynes repair guide since that's what I have to work from and it will tell you step by step with pictures, what to do. It's not hard, but you need to get all of the attach points unhooked to be successful. Suggest you have a helper working with you to keep the door steady.
