the most likely causes are cam cover seal. camshaft seals or the front cover/crankshaft oil seal the only way is to clean it all off ie a jet wash or solvent then run until you can see the relevant area. the most leaks in that area are caused by the camshaft oil seals on that engine
loose rocker cover gaskets
crank shaft oil seals front and rear main
sump gasket or loose oil pan
over full and coming from dip stick tube
loose /damaged oil filter /gasket
Park the car run the engine , let it sit over night
start in the morning and see where the oil mark is on the floor and the leak will be above that spot when it was parked
what year, Opel?
seal failure?
both ends of crankshaft
the throwout side and the front? both leak>?
bad seals or the surface they touch is worn.
says broken, post a photo of damage .
check what colour the oil is firstly--- red --transmission oil==black --engine oil===dark brown --gear/diff oil. Next check the position of the oil between the front wheels - red -transmission cooler lines leak /power steering leak
black between the front wheels-- front crank seal. If you have a front drive car then you will have to be careful but the colour will tell you what is leaking and where.
hello. there is only a small amount of oil in the a/c system, about 1/8th of a cup so that's not the leak your seeing. they probably didn't tighten the oil filter good enough or stripped the drain plug. the a/c is probably not working because they unhooked a line and now the seal is leaking. you need to put in some leak detection die into the a/c system to see where its leaking. also you can test the Freon pressure with a gauge you can buy at an auto parts store. Make sure you check the engine oil level so you don't seize the engine from running with no oil.
SOUND LIKE FRONT CRANKSHAFT TIMING COVER SEAL OR REAR MAIN OIL SEAL LEAKING START ENGINE LET IT IDLE SEE IF YOU SEE OIL DRIPPING UNDERNEATH CAR LOOK FOR OIL LEAK AT TIMING COVER OR AT REAR OF ENGINE WHERE REAR MAIN SEAL LOCATED. CHECK ON TOP OF ENGINE INTAKE MANIFOLD AREA WHERE OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR IS.O - RING AT THE OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR WILL CAUSE LARGE OIL LEAK.OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR IS LOCATED WHERE THE DISTRIBUTOR USE TO BE LOCATED.KEEP EYE ON OIL LEVEL IN CRANK CASE.KEEP PLENTY ENGINE OIL ON HAND UNTIL YOU FIX.I WOULD FIND LOCATE PROBLEM QUICK AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE OIL LEVEL GET TOO LOW ENGINE WILL SEIZE UP LACK OF OIL..
There can be alot of causes, such as valve covers leaking, oil pan gasket leaking, oil filter leaking, rear main seal leaking, front timing chain cover seal or gasket leaking even bad rings. Does it smoke out of the back? Your valve seals could be leaking. Best way to find out if you have a leak is to inspect the valve covers manually, or take newspapers and lay them under the entire engine on the ground, and it will leave the tell tale stain of a leak. Hope this helps.
The Chrysler minivan products all had leaking problems. I have had 5 or 6 different Dodge or Plymouth minivans from 88 to 99. How bad is it. The most common thing is Valve cover leaks. Front and rear seals in the engine leak as well as the oil pan gasket. If its leaking a little bit at a time open the hood and look at the front and rear of the engine. Do you see grease and oil that has gone down the sides of the engine? Do you see a lot of grease on the engine with some clean streaks going through it. You may be able to see where its leaking from. If you know someone that knows what their doing have them change the leaky gasket/s. If not you can probably have it repaired for less than buying another van unless other things are seriously wrong with the van.
Hope this helps... Dale
If it's the org. engine it will has over 60,000 miles on it. It's normal to has the valve stem seal/oil seal on the head to leak oil into the cyclinder. The smoke you see is the motor oil drop from the valve stem seals. It land on the top of the cyclinders and it create black smoke at start up. The inexpensive fix is to start using high mileage oil with seal conditioner. This will help soften the rubber seals and help reduce internal oil leak. The correct fix is to wait until it's time for a head gasket replacement and let the professional service the head. Complete head service is the only method to stop this internal oil drip problem.
