I actually had to replace my EGR valve and the gasket. I clean the valve well and reused both. I don't think the gasket sealed well enough though. So I went ahead and got a new valve, gasket and changed them. It runs a lot smoother now.
The torque values are 85 ft/lbs. Tighten the bolts in at least three stages, the first tightening should be 30 ft/lbs and then at least twice at the full torque of 85 ft/lbs.
There are ten head bolts and the order is as below:-
9.........5..........1........3.........7

10.......6..........2........4.........8
sounds like a possible pluged fuel filter or a tired fuel pump. the pump is cooled by the gas. so if you work it at 1/4 tank or below it tends to get hot. but towing may make it hot anyway. check fuel pressure and the replace the fuel filter
