I have a 1993 Dodge Caravan. Recently it will hang in second gear and not shift to third. I can pull over kill the engine, and turn the key off and back on, start the van and it will shift. Sometimes I have to do this two or three times on my way to work (35 Miles).
Once I am going down the highway it will stay in high gear, but when I stop or slow down it will usually hang again.
Any Ideas?

sounds like you should start by dropping the pan and changing the filter, put cheap fluid in it or reuse the old fluid if its not too bad bring it to a shop and have a transmission flush performed with a good flush machine your valve body is sticking and this should clear things up please rate -jeff

Dear wramlal
I had the same problem, drove home just like you did, took it to my mechanic and he changed the "speed sensor " problem solved. "

I had the same thing! It was a computer issue. It only cost me about $35.00.

You need to have a shop scan the TCM for codes. Then you can determine what is wrong. These are good for having bad turbine shaft and output shaft speed sensors.
Testimonial: "The problem was the whole transmission computer, put in a New one and no more problems, Thank You."

that sounds like a linkage issue, check under at bell housing, if not its the band you need to rebuild the trans.
