You didn't post your engine size so please pick the one that works for you....I'll post them all separately:
2.3L Engine
The oil pumps are not serviceable. If defective, they must be replaced.
To install:
WARNING
Do not force the oil pump if it does not seat readily. The oil pump driveshaft may be misaligned with the distributor or shaft assembly. If the pump is tightened down with the driveshaft misaligned, damage to the pump could occur. To align, rotate the intermediate driveshaft into a new position.
3.0L Engine
The oil pumps are not serviceable. If defective, they must be replaced.
Follow the service procedures under Oil Pan Removal and remove the oil pan assembly.
Remove the oil pick-up and tube assembly from the pump.
Remove the oil pump retainer bolts and remove the oil pump.
To install:
Prime the oil pump with clean engine oil by filling either the inlet or outlet port with clean engine oil. Rotate the pump shaft to distribute the oil within the pump body.
Install the pump and tighten the mounting bolts to 30-40 ft. lbs. (41-54 Nm).
WARNING
Do not force the oil pump if it does not seat readily. The oil pump driveshaft may be misaligned with the distributor or shaft assembly. If the pump is tightened down with the driveshaft misaligned, damage to the pump could occur. To align, rotate the intermediate driveshaft into a new position.
Install the oil pick-up and tube assembly to the pump. If there is a gasket between the pump and the pick-up, use a new gasket when installing.
Install the oil pan as previously described.
4.0L Engines
The oil pumps are not serviceable. If defective, they must be replaced.
Follow the service procedures under Oil Pan Removal and remove the oil pan assembly.
Remove the oil pick-up and tube assembly from the pump.
Remove the oil pump retainer bolts and remove the oil pump.
To install:
Prime the oil pump with clean engine oil by filling either the inlet or outlet port with clean engine oil. Rotate the pump shaft to distribute the oil within the pump body.
Install the pump and tighten the mounting bolts to 13-15 ft. lbs. (18-20 Nm)

i got a 2000 ford ranger 3.0 V6 but i lost the oil pump bolt. can someone know what's the bolt size for the oil pump because i search a lot on google but i didn't find anything. can someone help me with this so i can buy another bolt for finish my engine. thank you

All the answers are possible here Greggs is common ,but after investigation of the drive gear is done and you see it is not worn or stripped the possibility of a clogged pick up tube screen and sludge in the pan are extremely possible here this will not allow the pump to pick up the oil from the oil pan sump this is a 26-27 year old vehicle by build date on the sticker and after years of running and never cleaning out the pan the sludge from not changing the oil and filter regularly especially on an engine that is possibly running hotter than normal is evident here and the stripped teeth come from that shaft trying to turn in dirty or wrong weight oil that is filled with sludge and build up and the oil pump can turn fast enough to keep up with the rpm's of the engine so you should replace all oil pump,shaft pick up tube and screen,pan gasket and you should clean the cylinder heads out where the valve springs are and rockers you will find that there is the same sludge there that looks like brownies from build up heat rises in an engine and the sludge starts at the top and gradually will seep through the oil drain holes in the heads going back to the oil pan also a mismatch of the synchronizer gear is possible there's 2 cast iron or steel if they are then it will damage both the gear and the shaft
Your oil pump shaft and or synchronizer that runs your oil pump from off your camshaft is stripped! These guys have no clue what theyre talking about. I do because i had the same issue. The synchronizer or oil pump drive gear-shaft depending in what you wanna call it or whether it has a sensor on top, is at the back of your motor on the passenger side behind the intake. The inside of the shaft should have teeth grooved out of it, theyre worn down to the point where they catch on the oil pump shaft only once in a while and eventually not at all. Fairly cheap fix compared to a new motor which is what youll end up having to buy if you sont fix it. Took me a while to figure out what it was but i e been trying to let everyone i come across know so that they can save their motor.

If the oil pump fails and the engine continues to run then there will be catastrophic engine damage and then the engine will seize.(this would be accompanied by loud knocking noises and possibly smoke and in some cases fire in the engine compartment) If this has happened to your engine then yes it can cause the engine not to turn over. but if you parked the vehicle and every thing was fine. then you came to start it later and it wouldn't start then no the oil pump will have nothing to do with this no start issue.

first off make sure you have the right one for the truck.
Now just pull the old one off of the valve cover and remove it from the hose and insert the new one than reinsert it on the valve cover and you are done.

is it a 4 or a 6 cylinder engine, well you need to take off the fan clutch if it has one if not skip the step; its just 4 screws, then take off the acc belt, then take off the hose that goes from the radiator to the water pump; at the water pump, then remove the screws holding the water pump; make note what screw goes where some screws may be different sizes; in some 4 cyl 2.3L engines the timing belt cover has to be removed to remove the water pump, then remove the water pump, scrap off all gasket residue from the surface of the engine, take automotive silicone gasket maker and apply a small amount to the new water pump and level it out then put the included gasket over the silicone, then let it set for a couple of minutes, apply a bit more of silicone over the gasket and again let it set then replace the water pump, replace the screws and tighten all of them snug then go back and torque them between 20 and 25ft lb, replace the water hose, replace timming belt cover if removed, replace acc belt, and finally replace the fan clutch and your all set i hope you can get the job done

Its not the oil relief valve,since it only works when pressure is to high,and even then you dont lose all pressure.. look into the camshaft synchronizer having a broken drive gear at the bottom.they tend to break..working on one now that has this problem,so I know. luck to ya!

This sounds like a fuel problem at the carb. What it's doing is termened hunting a nd can generally be corrected by a simple adjustment of the carb. Engine at idle and neutral set rpms at lowest idle , around 640 rpms. then adjust the a/f ratio screws to balance carb. Screw both screws all the way in, do not force ,or needle and sear damage will occir. Now back each out to 1.5 turns That is your start point Adjust one screw in and out slowly until you you feel its best effact on ide whicjh should slightly increase. repeat with other screw, in and out slowly . listening to the engine idle. if idle has increase due to your adjustmebt, repwat process after lowering the idle speed again with the idle screw. When you get to the point the screws no longer affect the idle the engine show sound and run smoothly at idle, make sure you resert the idle to 650rpms for an automatic trans and 650-750 for manual trans.
