The clutch cable provides a means to "break the drive" between the engine and the wheels. The engine spins constantly, but the wheels do not, so in order to stop a car's wheels without turning off the engine, the wheels have to disconnect from the engine. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the cable disengages the plates, allowing the driver to shift gears or coast without killing the engine.

A failing clutch cable may make the clutch pedal difficult to depress. If the clutch cable fails, the clutch pedal may remain on the floor and not return to its normal position.

To replace the clutch cable, disconnect it from the clutch pedal (usually inside the vehicle) and from the release mechanism or cable attachment that operates the clutch assembly (usually at the transmission beneath the vehicle). A new clutch cable is then installed and adjusted. (The specifics vary according to the vehicle and range from straightforward to very difficult.)

Clutch on 8N ford need help have and 8N ford tractor can not get in gear.park it 9 months ago was working fine when parked push pedel nothing happens

Please check and see if there is a steel brake line from the clutch pedal to the transmission, because I think you might have a "hydraulic" clutch.
This means there is a master cylinder near the clutch pedal and a "slave cylinder" mounted on or near the transmission.
Over time, the slave cylinder can fail, and the tractor will no longer shift for you because the pedal will not release the clutch.
The slave cylinder would need replacement or rebuilt.
God bless your efforts.

I was parked on the side of the road in my ford ranger ute for about 3 to 4 minutes with the clutch pedal to the floor i was on the phone and then i could smell the clutch burning. I took my foot off the...

The clutch might be a hydraulic system. When it's leaking oil the pedal sticks to the floor and has to be pulled back manually. Because it's designed to be fail safe, it still works but only for some time till all the oil has leaked out.

The burning smell might be clutch oil dripping on the exhaust - meaning the seal on the clutch servo is leaking oil.

There are repairkits for clutch servo's - usually it's suggested to replace the cylinder seal on the clutch pedal also.

FORD FOCUS 05 CLUTCH GOES TO THE FLOOR BUT WILL NOT GO INTO ANY GEARS, CAN ANYONE HELP ON THIS ISSUE

When you press on the pedel is there preasure resisting movement? Is it easiser to push than last week? if it is - You probably have a hydrolic clutch is the resivor full of fluid? It will use brake fluid. Fill it and then slowly depress and release the pedal about ten times, then check the fluid again. If it still has fluid add as needed and repeat. Most of hydrolic clutches are self bleeding and thirty cycles should bring the preassure back. If the cylinder is empty the second time quit you have either a bad slave cylinder or line in yhe system take it to a mechanic.
