Where is the oil pressure sending unit located on a 2000 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 liter

    I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee will turn over but won't start has fuel pressure I'm getting a code electronic control unit internal malfunction is that mean the computer is bad or is that a different unit?? Help would be much appreciated!

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
  2. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  3. Remove front splash shield.
  4. Disconnect oil pressure sender connector (4).
  5. Remove the pressure sender (2).

To install:
  1. Install oil pressure sender.
  2. Connect oil pressure sender wire.
  3. Install front splash shield.
  4. Lower vehicle.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.

Most common are valve cover gaskets worn out...especially the inline 6 cylinder...inspect the oil pressure sending unit located beside the oil filter...these are the most common and least costly fixes...Hope this helps.

Oil leaks from oil pressure sending unit on my 1994 jeep grand cherokee limited v8 5.2 liter
Replace it immediately the leak will only get worse. On some, you may need a sending unit socket, unless it has flat sides that will work with a wrench. Wrap the thread with teflon tape (one turn) to prevent it from leaking there and do not over-tighten or it will snap off.

- On my 95 4.0 it's right beside the distributor.
- The sensor is on the passenger side of the engine, back near the firewall.
