2004 Saturn Ion wont start from time to time when it is cold outside.. Like this morning my daughter went outside and the car started right up with the temp outside 7 degrees. She warmed it up for awhile shut it off went back into her apartment came right back out and it wouldnt start.

Try adding water absorb ant fluidd, ie heat. To fuel. May have condensed water in tank. Popped a fuse or breaker

Hi Wlove, have the vehicle diagnostically scanned and I'm fairly sure it will record a defect with the temperature sensor. Have that relpaced and your problems should be over. Regards John

cold weather seriously weakens the battery. Chemical reactions in the battery simply can't happen with the same efficiency at colder temps. Try charging the battery overnight with a 2amp "trickle charger" before a cold morning start.

probably a dead battery, cold is a car batteries worse enemy.

think ur fuel pump or pump regulator which is in engine area is failin

Ignition cylinder is the usual culprit. Saturn has a big problem with their ignition cylinders going bad when very cold or humid.

Still if you want to replace the spark plugs (the vehicle does not have spark plug wires but rather coil packs and replaceable boots) they are under the black plastic strip on top of the engine that says ECOtec. There are four 10mm bolts holding it down and an electrical connection on the right side that has to be unclipped. There is also a bracket for the acceleration cable that is in the way that is held on by one 10mm bolt in the side of the valve cover. Be careful when removing the black cover to not lose any of the spring that are in the spark plug boots. Typically you only need to replace the spark plugs and not the boots.

saturn has a TSB#04-08-45-005D the ignition switches go bad usually when its cold outside and they dont let the car start,common ion issue,,you need a new ignition switch,,not the lock cylinder the switch its a little electric box on the end of the cylinder housing you need to replace that and reprogram the new one to the car,switch is like $40
