Does the pump have wick disconnects that required a tool to remove them? There are orings in those as well as a large oring sealing the pump to the tank. Make sure the connectors click when you replace them. The pump should activate with the key on. " not started", you should be able to see if the lines are leaking or if it just your fuel fill overflow hose leading to the fill door alongside the large full hose.
no- no recall on the fuel tank that cracks at the filler neck the following link are complaints about fuel tank that are recieved if you go to home page and enter trailblazer they give you the break down of the whole series of model and complaints as well as recall information they also list the TSB technical service bulletins 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer Crack In Fuel Tank
I sounds like you have an electrical problem with the dashboard. It will have to be pulled and checked.
I had the same problem with the gas tank on my 95 mustang. You are going to have to drop the tank. There is a rubber seal where the filler neck goes into the gas tank that has failed and must be replaced. You are losing even more gas than you think. Everytime you make a left turn gas is sloshing out through that bad seal.
you might try looking to see if the filler tube is cracked and leaking if it is you could replace it and that will take care of the check engine lite depending on what code is being set
Try not to put nozzle completely in the tank. There is an anti-syphoning device that is smaller than the rest of fill tube and can cause back pressure. This can be removed
No its your filler pipe gasket
