Sep 20, 2011 - 1999 Ford Explorer 4.0L -need assistance on removing upper intake ...Are you sure you have the OHV/pushrod engine and not the SOHC engine? ... Do youhave the upper intake manifold loose, you just are unable to ... the lower intake gasket, valve cover gaskets, Injector o-rings, plugs and wires. Thanks ...
the sensor that controls the mixture is the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) in the exhaust manifold
compression is low as it should be no less that 125 psi that is if the readings were taken with the throttle wide open
the noise in the exhaust indicates unburnt mixture accumulating in the muffler to flash off
check for a crack in the flex section of the exhaust near the manifold
Spray the intake manifold on cylinder number where it bolts to the head with intake cleaner and see if the rpm's change and the miss goes away temporarily. There was a problem at the factory with the intake gasket being creased on cylinder number 1. This issue tends to be a lean misfire issue.
spray some carb cleaner on the passeger side of the intake manifold, right behind the alternator. it is very common for those to leak there and cause those exact problems
sounds like the intake hose from throttle body is not on intake manifold properly..as for the p0700 trouble code, you need trans controller scanned for fault codes..let me know what codes are in trans controller
spray carb cleaner on the intake manifold near cylinder 1... common problem is the intake manifold gasket leaks vacuum causing a misfire...the not starting could be due to a faulty crank sensor
