The oil light keeps coming on with a bell

The oil light keeps coming on and a bell keeps ringing, even though I've checked the oil level and it's fine. What could be the problem?

If your oil gauge if you have one reads good pressure, more then likely you have a bad sensor, if you just have an oil light, take it to a repair shop where they can do an oil pressure test. Have it check, low oil pressure can cause major engine damage.

How do I get the warning bell to go off. When driving my 99 silverado the bell keeps ringing. When I come to a stop it goes off. Very irritating. The dealership can't even figure it out.

What you could do is first you see if you can see a button on the clock the alarm and press it twice and see what happens then you are free to go out of your home i guss??

Low oil presure light and bell keep ringing

Check your car engine oil level as insufficient oil can cause this condition: top up as required and check for any excessive oil leaks.
If the engine oil level is 'normal', ensure that your oil filter is functional and not clogged (it will get clogged if you did not change it on a regular basis when changing oil): change as required.
If the above are OK, then you have a major problem because of faulty oil pump or worned oil (rubber) seals !
Hope it helps!

Have you checked the engine dipstick to ensure that the oil level is correct? A very low oil level will cause the light to come on and cause overheating because the oil assists in keeping the engine cool. Top up oil if necessary. If oil level is OK, then it is possible that the warning light pressure switch which is screwed into the engine oil pressure system is faulty and setting off light and needs replacing. There could even be oil leaking out of the switch. The switch is usually located near the oil filter and will have a wire connected to it.
If after replacing switch and light still comes on, check to make sure wire is not making contact with the engine because of chafed or cracked insulation. If the oil constantly needs topping up you either have a bad leak or the piston rings are worn and not operating correctly. If the leak is bad, then there will be oil puddles under the engine after it has been stopped for a while. If it is a ring problem then there will be grey oil smoke out of the exhaust while driving.
Worst case is that it could also mean badly worn engine bearings. It is unlikely to be the oil pump as these hardly ever fail.

My polo keeps cutting out when driving and the oil warning light comes on even though oil level is fine??

Check the oil sending unit to see if it is giving a false signal.
However, I would trust it and maybe change the oil and filter if it hasn't been done within the last 3,000 mi.

Sometimes filters get plugged up or wrong oil was used which can cause this indicator to go off.

Good luck on this repair.

The procedure for resetting the oil change light is in your owners manual. If you don't have the manual try this. Turn key on (do not start engine) and push the gas pedal to the floorboard 3 times within 5 seconds. Turn key off and restart the truck. Light should be reset now.

Idiot oil light is ringing its bell non stop.... driving me crazy

The oil light is an indicator of oil pressure, not oil level. If it is chiming all the time now, it means that your engine likely has an oiling issue, such as a failing oil pump.

Get the vehicle checked out immediately before you cause irreversible damage that requires a replacement engine or an entirely new car.

Oil Light comes on VW passat

Start checking the oil level, if oil is low then the problem is a leak or weared rings.

If oil level is ok, check that the oil pump has enough pressure.

If oil pump is also fine, then scan the ECU (car computer) and replace the sensor if you do not find anything else being wrong.
